Steam Direct in your face. Pay to have your face melted off by boiling hot steam.

I think Steam Direct is a good thing

It died as it lived, sudden with no real impact.

It was too much of a time-waste and easily abuseable (paid votes anyone?). Steam Direct is not perfect of course, but I sure won't miss Greenlight, not after having to put 6 games through it.

Of all of My posts, this attracts the most attention.
@Lantiz: I am in agreement, however, there are responsible Developers outthere that cannot pay such a fee, I mourn them not the loss of Greenlight.

@Bonkers: Not so, it had enough of an impact to bring about the existance of it's sucessor and it's necessity.

@Matseb2611: You have experience with greenlight? I understand it was heavly abused.

Yeah. The idea of it is good, but it didn't work so well in reality. Many people gave up checking it, and the only ones who hung around were the trolls who enjoyed bashing games. Another issue is that after 2-3 days, traffic to your game page would drop to a 0 and good luck trying to get votes after that. It becomes an uphill battle to promote your game then.

Blood and Damnation! I am glad I waited then, well to be honest I was not ready to post, I like posting the finished product, but I could have spent $100 on nothing then, well You gave Me a sense of relief, Matseb2611.

@Dragon Brother I don't think $100 is too much, and dollar worths 3x my currency. Also, if you manage to sell up to $1000 you'll get the $100 back. Now, if you make a game and don't expect to get $1000 from it, you should not put it on Steam in first place. If you really can't afford $100 but still has a nice game, you can always look for a sponsor. (I'm saying "you" but I mean in general, not exactly you).

Yeah, I am the same way. I never liked putting rough pre-alpha versions up for voting. You'd want to show your game off in the best light possible. Though I know anyone who has a greenlight submission that hasn't gone through, Steam transfers that to your entry on Steam Direct. So it won't be for waste either way.

No no no, I mean I would have spent $100 on Greenlight, this new system seems, as members of the new generation would say; "legit", I'm not so much worried about actually spend the money to sell the game, so much as getting the game out, it bothers me a little that My freeware addition is going to cost more than it already has but, that is the price of doing bussiness.

Yeah, it would really suck for freeware titles, because now you outright lose money and don't make any of it back.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
