I definitely a mage type of person, though I really like to play healing roles as well.
Backstabby rogue or aggressive dual-wielder.
Yea, I used to be a mage type of person too. Now I choose anything with a spear, if possible.
Depends a bit on the system/setting, but I mostly go for some charismatic spellcaster, sneakthief, or combination thereof. Though even in D&D/Pathfinder, I've varied between spoony bards, intense sorcerers, heavily armored swordsmen, brazen gunslingers, et cetera et cetera.
Basically, given options, I'm liable to try a few different things, so I can experience more of the options.
Anything silly or dumb are the ones I usually go for. I mean, I COULD be a cool, powerful knight. But if they are gonna let me fight dragons as a clown or janitor, I'm gonna be the clown or janitor.
Anything that is dodgy style and dodging attack would be the main playstyle. I like to dodge, why taking hit when you can evade the hit. I don't like blocking tho, it's more satisfying to dodge than blocking
I like hybrids. Paladins, Battlemages, Rangers, War Clerics, anything that combines two classes into one.
Paladins, Mages (support variety), and Thieves. I'm the same way in D&D as well... I often roll with "Utility Mages" with high Strength scores or play as Thieves who do very little thieving and do a lot of trickery.
Mages. Sometimes Supportive, other times Aggressive.
The warrior types that are as close and personal with the enemy as possible. I enjoy bashing into groups and going on a spree. Something like 2/3rds DPS and 1/3rd tank.
Either a fighter/thief blend or a mage (with attack magic)..
@starlight dream Was there ever a thief/mage combo? That would be amazing! Using teleport to dodge attacks and tp behind ppl for backstabs
There's one in D&D. Thieves can take the path of basically using low level magic.
Or, you could just be a Bard.
@Tai_MT I hate how bards are usually designed. I want to KILL people with music. Let me make their ears bleed or dance them off a cliff
In D&D, Bards are usually moderately good swordsmen, moderately decent magic users, and basically support specialists who use magical music to buff their teammates.
The rogue. Dual wield + stealth = amazing
Thief mage combo is my fave, there is one in Kingdom of Amalur if you choose sorcery + finesse path. You dodge by teleport, and it was fun at higher level, you add poison if you teleport on the back of the enemy.
The drawback is you can't get the higher level of skill in both sorcery & finesse path. So yes, you can't summon meteor
Cool one @TheoAllen
@SweetMeltyLove Oh I can envision the perfection of a mage/thief! Robbing people from a distance... XD
The bard dancing ppl off a cliff is a MUST too!
@Tai_MT The Bard is a good average player, I wish he could cast while wearing heavier armor. A bit underrated, because he's usually tougher than many mixed classes.
@starlight dream Yes, the items just float out from the target's pockets without them even knowing
@Thomas Smith And the ability to steal people's identities without even talking to them
I really like knight-types, particularly with two hand swords or sword and shield. I'm also a sucker for spellblades.
