In what context? I wont explain every facet of my plot and sub-plots in game, because I hope that people can figure things out for themselves; they'll have something to work with, of course. I'll give a basic synopsis outside of the game.
Do you mean inside the game itself?
I'd keep some things mysterious for a time, but reveal them later on. At the end of the game I'd have no secrets unsolved (unless the player didn't play thoroughly and missed some info).
The only mystery at the end, might be things like lore or past history.
I like to leave answers tidbits and hints lying around. That way people who want story can feel like they earned it and people who don't care about the story can ignore it.
I mean in the game description. I noticed there are people who give vague storyline informations and people who give a very clear storyline informations. Personally I prefer the later. In game, I mostly agree with your approach @The Stranger@starlight dream@The Mighty Palm
It's important to give the player an idea of the type of story they'll be experiencing, the sort of world they'll be entering, and the genre of game. You don't need to explain your story in detail, nor do you want to ruin any plot twists or surprises.
I agree if it's a story-based game, I like the description to be clear, on what the game's about. Not to the point of revealing the plot's twists, or who joins your party, I like discovering things of the sort as I play.
Status Updates are not meant for detailed game discussions like this, but for random thoughts, odd bits of info, stuff like that. Perhaps you could post a thread in 'General Discussion'? It would be more appropriate there.
Depends on the game's storyline. If there's an element of investigation and mystery in the plot, it would obviously be a great disservice to the game and the player to reveal everything in the description. If the game is basically Straightforward Plot #17, without any twists or wrinkles, sure, might as well keep things clear from the start.
For in game description, I like vague one. I won't read the game story that tell me everything there. Hell, do I even read them anyway. Most of time I just scroll to either game features and screenshot first before learning the story of the game
I agree that revealing stuff too much for games that emphasize on plot twist is not a good idea.
The interesting thing is, there are long storyline descriptions that actually only give vague informations. Yet there are very short storyline descriptions that give almost 90% of the informations. I pick the later because at least I know what kind of story I will experience.
so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most.
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
