You could go for a Star Wars type thing. Have the important characters all neatly arranged and what not. I prefer simple, or sometimes more abstract, backgrounds for the main menu.
Hm, I can imagine it. Maybe later I'll add some characters bust doing some poses. But the resource need to be renamed to "title characters". (or something more informative)
If you look at the small title screen images in my sig, the one on the right has this. The middle one is a bit different - the individual character art is added to the title screen as that character joins the party. It means that they have to be re-arranged for each addition, but it works well, imo.
Actually I'm thinking about making a flippable image, for more versatility. But, when an image is flipped, the light source and the shading automatically change. It'd be weird if we have many characters but the light source seems inconsistent. I'm still wondering how to make a flippable image. xD
I like doing that. Done that for a few games of mine, including the latest one. I find it's nicer even when you make the characters and the background move independently at different speeds to give an illusion of depth. Multi layers FTW.
Well, more like using a plugin that just scrolls multiple layers across the screen in whichever x and y direction you want at your own chosen speed and with your own chosen opacity.
so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most.
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
