Ugh, I feel your pain. This has happened to me too many times. I back up everything now to a NAS Drive whenever I have changes that are to extensive to replicate quickly.
Can you remove the hard drive and plug it in to another computer using one of those external cords? I did that with last laptop (it didn't survive a 2 foot drop) and was able to recover a lot of stuff.
I know the feeling. It took me 7 years to recover from losing my game.
Now I store my games in my OneDrive folder. My main NAS (Network Assisted Storage) automatically downloads from OneDrive every 10 seconds, and my secondary NAS makes a backup of the main one every Sunday.
Just in case, you should probably try to hook your laptop's HDD/SSD to some other computer. You might recover something.
Yup, remember how much of a domino effect this can have too. I know the feels of this all too well.
I do recommend trying the extract data suggestions.
Unironically, no joke, after consideration and self-reflection, I have decided that the best thing for my creative/workflow/commitment problems is to spend EVEN MOAR hours a day playing videogames than I normally do. (Micro-thread)
This one is less showing off and more 'I really don't know how I feel about this one.' The 'child' sprite template I made either works great or doesn't at times. (She is a fairy, so I made her small).
