I found Odyssey to be quite bland to be honest. The controls were spot on, but none of the world’s challenged me and You’re given moons far too often for them to feel rewarding.
The divine beasts are a cool concept, but each of them plays out the exact same, maneuvering the dungeon in some way to get access to switches to fight another form of Ganon while the same music plays in the background.
I think for the most part its the fact that I've always LOVED zelda stories, Twilight Princess, Majoras Mask, and Wind Waker are my top three because they all have an extensive and heart wrenching story to them. (more so world wise in Majoras Mask) but in Breath Of The Wild that was all but removed :/
and I'm not sure why I loved odyssey so much, but I had more of a blast playing it than I've had playing any game in a long while. not to say BOTW is bad or anything, its a brilliant game, but it just never felt like a proper LOZ game to me... it almost felt too big and empty I guess?
where as Odyssey was big, but it was so full of stuff that it felt "just right" lol either way, feels bad saying that as someone who loves everything zelda XD and i agree with the divine beasts, the dungeons have always been such an integral part of LOZ games
My issue with odysseys level design is that the levels themselves aren’t very open. They almost feel like the ones from sm64, but without the replay ability. The levels were small in 64, but they changed depending on objective and were challenging. Odysseus were definitely fun, but I never get like going back to the worlds after beating them, and I never felt the difficulty progress.
so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most.
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
