Malcathrus sounds like some kinda back disease, I guess that's why you said it WAS the home of a great wizard.

Perhaps, depends on just how tall Sobamanjaro is. I mean, it holds an entire kingdom, and a famous king, so it might be taller.

I mean, it's big enough for it to be the Kingdom's entire source of pride. They always brag about how they are the tallest and how they're king has the longest beard in the world, they all look down on those who are shorter then them. The King even has a beard so long it reaches all the way down to the bottom of the mountain, this is known due to him always sitting at the summit.
