0 Damage in battle and enemy is slain

This is my first posting here, so I hope I'm doing this correctly. In the game I'm working on, in battle sequence test runs, I hit the enemy once, it says they took no damage and then they're slain. So far the only battles I've set up are "boss" battles and I've given the enemy like 1500 HP. I'm guessing it's the making of a terrible game if you can hit the boss once and he's dead after sustaining no damage whatsoever. So I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance/insight on how I can correct this situation. Thank you.

What skill or attack were you using? What damage formula are you using? Are you adding a death state to your attacks?

Let me guess - you changed either the state #1 or the skill #1 in your project?

If you had read the note of those two entries before deleting them, you would lhave learned that skill #1 is hardcoded as the attack skill, and state#1 is hardcoded as the death state.
Apply state #1 and the battler dies, no matter what you changed that stat to.
and if you click on "attack" for an actor, the skill #1 gets executed - again no matter what you changed it to.

If those are both unchanged, then we need to see what plugins you have installed and what your actor and enemy values are.

I see "Attack State - Knockout 32%" in your First Screenshot. So your Character has 1 in 3 chances of instantly killing the enemy by applying "Knockout State" on it. Even the enemy in Second Screenshot seems to have 22% Chance to afflict Knockout State on you, This means there is 1 in 5 chance that your Character is instantly dead by Hits from the Enemy.

You are probably doing no damage because the Enemy probably has more defense, Try reducing it a little. If you think the Default Formula - "a.atk * 4 - b.def * 2" is confusing, Try something simpler like "a.atk - b.def * 0.5".

I see you have Additional elemental resists on both your Player and Enemies, Which will further lead to more complication. Why not check by removing all your Elemental Resists first ? So you know how much damage your Character is doing. Then apply the elemental resists, later on.

i see so many things its hard to know where to start.
mainly, do you know what effect all those traits is having on your character and enemy?

having attack state knockout 32% and attack +1 means your normal attack command will attack twice and have a 32% chance to instant kill on both hits.

element rate and state rate, 100% means normal damage. lowering that gives them resistance to that element type or state. anything higher then 100% makes them have a weakness to it. so having elemtnt rate water *2% for example means he is almost completely immune to water element attacks (every 100 damage in formula he only takes 2 damage)

state resist guard is making it so your character can never get the effects or using the guard command.

having weapon and armor types on enemy traits serves no purpose since they cannot actually equip any weapons or armor.

there's more then just this so i think its would just be best to start with some tutorials.

you really should learn what something does before using it.
The main problems with the attack state have already been pointed out, but there are others.

Do you know that your actor and enemy are almost immune to most types of elemental damage?
Elemental Rate Ice*2% means that the damage of the ice element is multiplied by 2%, which means that ice element skills only do one fiftieth of the original damage.

Equip weapon gives actors the ability to have that type of weapon equipped - but because enemies have no equipment it is absolutely useless on the enemy where you placed it.

and probably more things where you misunderstood what they do based on the obvious errors we found.

Thank you everyone. I removed all of the percentage stuff, and now it works. I've only been using RPG Maker for a little more than a month and am extremely confused by what all the parameters and rates and buffs and all of that stuff is, and what the numbers do.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
