Hi there! Welcome to my developer thread for the game "1927: The Age of Cthulhu".
Before getting started, you might be interested in my other thread, located in the link below:

There is also some brief game-play footage located here:
Let's Play - 1927: The Age of Cthulhu
This is a game I've been developing on-and-off for the last year and a half. Unfortunately as I've been incredibly busy with my job, I hadn't been as active in the last year. But I've had a bout of new inspiration and have been getting back to work.
At some point I may be interested in hiring help. Mostly artists who can aid in providing original artwork. So far all of the character and monster art is fully original. The backgrounds use a mixture of original and other artwork I've found available.

What's the game about?
It's about a group of professional monster hunters living in the modernity and optimism of the rolling 20's. Think of "The Witcher" meets "The Great Gatsby" and "Call of Cthulhu". While the main quest will deal with the return of Cthulhu and other Old Ones, the side quests will have the group of characters fight vampires, ghosts, zombies, giant rats, mummies, werewolves, and a whole host of other mythological creatures. All within the backdrop of New York in the 20's - prohibition, organized crime, Harlem Renaissance, art deco - the whole works.

What's the game-play like?
I've tried to make my game as modern as possible, despite being a 2D RPG. I've so far had success in creating stealth, lock-picking, persuasions, and other abilities that you character can select to refine and develop on a skill tree. I've got a quest journal, and it's my intent to eventually have a working mini-map.
Additionally it will have other facets of modern North American RPGs - good/bad decisions, multiple endings, optional romances, custom character creation, etc.
I'd like my game to be a living product - updated and refreshed as needed. And with all of my RTP resources being freely available for people to use.

When can we expect a demo?
It depends on my work schedule for the next little while (yes, even on pandemic time, I'm essential). While I have a lot of resources and backgrounds made, and most of my mechanics implemented, I am lacking in quests and NPC's.
I have a choice to make: should I just "make" maps and worry about the details later, so I can focus on NPC's and story OR do I put the extra effort in and make my maps as perfectly detailed as possible from the get-go? If I do so, I can get a greater audience attached to the game and invested in its completion. That choice is one I have not made yet. It really depends on the reaction I get to this post. I'd love to hear what people have to say.

What can I do to help?
Currently I have no intentions of setting up a ******* or GoFundMe initiative. At this time I feel it's too early to start asking for money. I am also reluctant to ask for help from other developers or artists. Not because I don't need it, but because my vision for the game is still being refined. I need more voices, more opinions, and more of a game before I can get to that point. Again, I'd love to hear people's comments and opinions.
