Same here Shaz.  And I know we don't have to but I'm posting my goal: to nail down my alchemy items and recipes and get them into the crafting script.  This is for a short project, so it shouldn't take too terribly long, deciding what to put in is the harder part.

Ok. I can do this. No other Steam games for Tuesday or Wednesday. I just have to make a crapload of NPCs, facesets for said NPCs, and work on storyline events. Wonderful. It's not going to all get done, but if I can do something, it'll be worth it.

Our goals?  Honestly, I'll be ecstatic if I get my current side quest finished off (just what NPCs say at different points of the side quest), and get the next one all planned out, over the next 2 days.

I love it how this forum always seems to know when I'm about to slack off because of life. xD First, the art challenges, now this. Perfect timing.

I don't really have time during the week, but whatever, there's always a map to be squeezed in. ò.o Or so I hope.
That's because they're watching you Chiara....always watching.... O_O

I'm going to post my report for the last two days now, because I have to head to work soon and by the time I get home there won't be much day left! Both mornings I woke up and started plugging around at things at 8am. Last night I stopped at around midnight and today, due to work, I stopped at noon.

* 25 Busts of varying levels of complexity (some were small edits, some were big edits, some were taken from the line art stage to three different shaded stages)

* Rewrote and did basic event cues for 3 cutscenes (rewritten from my rough drafts, guides for which busts to use and sprite actions for Rach to event)

* Shaded three battlers

* Sketched, lined, and flatted 2 cut-in pictures for a scene

* Made 4 new action sprites for main cast to use in cutscenes

* Designed 2 characters

* Daydreamed about future scenes that we're not up to yet (totally counts)

* Did a basic dungeon layout

* Made lots of lists related to gamedev

* Finished off two commissions

Hopefully I will add 'Did the Dishes' to the list when I get home from work tonight, because that 100% counts towards game development, right?

I hope there's another one of these down the road!

I got nothing done :( I'm lucky to even make it through the forums once a day at the moment.

Guess my game making is going to have to be a weekend task until I get used to the new routine :(

I switched my game-making time over the last two days between designing an optional dungeon and trying to event a kind of "daycare for monsters" system for someone else... sadly I didn't get enough done with either, and am for now going to be spending a lot less time at a computer that gives me access to rpgmaker for the foreseeable future. (it's like the universe "demanded" that this become hard for me because I had committed to doing something).

Second day almost finished. If I don't post now, chances are I'll forget it tomorrow. Didn't get that much done but more than I expected. So: yay! And now I'm tired.

Stuff I did these two days:

- worked on my bachelor thesis (although it's not for my rpg maker game, its still game related. Let's just say it counts. 0.0)

- finished two maps + basic outline for the next one

- did a bit of editing and compiling tilesets. x_x Feels like I'll never be done with that. There always is some tiny little detail. And then I don't pay attention and put something on the upper left corner of Tile B.

- painted a super rough and fast concept sketch to pinpoint one area's mood (didn't work out, but at least I now know what I don't want for that area xD)

- attempted to plan stuff but failed miserably (need to find better ways to trick my brain into staying motivated than lists ._. )

- dusted off my grammar book (re-learn grammar --> less awkward-sounding dialogues --> good for game making, right?)

I did something! Through the two days I dared myself to come up with a new game and plot! With that I was off.

In the game I was making before the last thing I did was edit two maps.

In the new game I got four maps done and a beginning cut-scene. I wrote down further progression of the story it was supposed to be short

but due to time constraints and so on. I only got so much done...

Well that sums up the report over two days, I got some stuff done but not much... ah well.

Something achieved!

I finished:

A boss battle

A minor map

Fixing some bugs

Tweaking a part of a story to have it make more sense

Cool! My only regret is that I wish I had done more on this.

Bleh, didn't do as much as I liked, but...

  • tweaked some menu stuff
  • sketched out some references for spriting
  • fleshed out 6 maps, and I'm drawing out the 7th one as I type, lol

Well, my timezone is done so here's how I fared:-

Did about 10 maps for my current project. Lost three of them due to power failure and had to do them over again.

Did a bit of mapping for a friend, just testing out their tiles and seeing how flexible they are.

Completed two LPs. The one for Ginger didn't lock to the game screen and so just recorded my voice with my desktop. I just made it an mp3 to share in my LP topic.

Messed around with the eventing of one of my first projects - back then I somehow evented backwards. It worked, but it doesn't work as well as it should, so I messed with that.

Edited some graphics for my current game. Nothing big there, just recolours and a new snow tile.

Created a character for a community game on RMN... then went back and created another character because it was fun.

I got more done that I thought I would, but the weather caused me setbacks. I would have liked to have done more Let's Plays but because it was so hot I was quite drained and not as energetic/enthusiastic/talkative as usual so the one LP I did end up doing fell a bit flat. I did end up completing my 10 maps that I'd planned though, even if I had to redo some of them. So, that makes me happy.

I may do another one of these at another inappropriate time at a later date. Just to keep you all on your toes~

You still have the rest of your time - I just started early because I'm in Australia. I'm looking forward to seeing all your reports~

Evented a side quest which depends upon the player having done the previous one.  So lots of nested conditional branches

Conditional branch if previous quest not done

Conditional branch if previous quest collected but not completed

Conditional branch if previous quest completed

Conditional branch giving choice of accepting the new quest or not

I'm always anxious about whether I have completed the 'Else' of multiple conditionals correctly.  And then there is the dialogue on subsequent pages of the event, depending on what's gone before.  More opportunities to louse up.

Then did 3 small maps for the new side quest.  Still a few bits and pieces to go on them. Did a new battleback.  Selected enemies, done their skills but not yet done their stats.

Particularly pleased about all this because until this challenge came up, I hadn't intended working on the game as I had a heavy schedule these 2 days.

Okay here goes!

Day 1: Completed skills, weapons and armors for my new short rpg game. For the same game I also planned out enemies for each dungeon, their strengths, and weaknesses. Toyed with a few maps that I had previously built. Did significant database work essentially.

Day 2: Worked on a Daycare system for Ruby, made entirely with events. Got the basic incubator working as well as the Head Nurse Clementine to do stuff.

My Goals for the Future: Work more on this Daycare system, making it more smooth and easy to edit. Finish that damn game from Day 1. Make A's in all my classes this semester.

My report is going to be short.  But figure that i have taken 15+ hours so far working on this one map.

Previously i have :

-Created first draft of map (inquisitors tiles)

-Re-created same map (Hanzo's tiles)

-Traced each pixel with darker mountains (did not like)

-Decided to proceed with hanzo's tiles mixed w some of cel's grasses & items

Map had no textures (grass, roads, rocks, flower, trees, etc..) at start of the push.  So it was basically the floor plan

During stretch: Added grass, rocks, flowers, trees, paths

--Made two maps. (A small one and a large one)

--Edited two maps.

--Edited a skillset which now requires me to run the entire game over cuz it screwed everything up.

I hate work.

This is actually less than what I do on a daily basis. I've just been distracted with other things recently, like friends. And pizza. And other games.

During a normal day, how much do you guys get done? I am able to get 1-2 hours of work done on a week day.  Weekends it can vary greatly from 5 hour rpg making binges to a few trees placed here and there.

@Stridah: It depends on what's going on. Mondays and Wednesdays are good days for me because I don't have class all day and I'm not scheduled for work on those days right now. Weekends aren't productive for me because I have work. If I've got a plan, I get a lot of progress done. If I don't have a plan...not so much gets done. :D

I can get in 2-3 per day during the week. On weekends, I sometimes work on my project for about up to 10+ hours straight. But when you want to be as detailed with your mapping as possible, 2-3 hours to do two maps doesn't cut it.

Things I got done:

Scrapped a project I was doing just for the need of learning how a complex class system worked.

Did some graphic work for a new game

Got a basic plot tree laid out for new game

Basic model of a human head is 70% complete for an experimental 3D model

Mind you I did this more in one day, due to the fact that the first day I only worked on my project I was using to learn.

How much I usually get done:

I usually jump around with what I create, usually doing about 2 maps, 4 (important) events, and either doing a bit of management with actors, or enemies.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
