My best guess is hundreds of people.
I can't imagine being you people.

I thought not many would request feedback on this.

Seems I was wrong though.

Except if you combine it with giving the coupons too.

That would explain a lot.  :(

Anyway, sorry if I sounded impatient.

I got my feedback.

So yes, it's coming for those waiting.

No, I won't tell you what the feedback was.

Hundreds of responses, along with the process of prizes will take time. Be patient.

How much more transparent about the judging process could we have been, aside from having people watching us do the judging? The information about how we were judging was provided from day 1. The wait was explained when the information was requested. If people want to share their scores and feedback they can, but they don't have to if they don't want, which is why we aren't telling all straight out - because some won't want that information shared.

Sorry for the wait on results, those who have asked for it. The wait is probably due to the large amount of people asking and the people in charge having to tally everything up and get lists together as well a juggle real life. Sometimes things get busy. Sorry about that and thank you for waiting patiently so far. Please just hang on a bit more if you're still waiting. ^.^

I think we're incredibly fortunate that the judges, after literally spending months of their time judging over 800 entries, are willing to take so much of their own free time (since I'm pretty sure they are NOT paid for this extra work!) to give detailed feedback on so many games.

Imagine what it's like ---- these judges are people with their own jobs and personal lives, and they are carving out some of their free time composing individualized, detailed responses solely because they know how it feels to crave feedback on what is for many their first game ever.

From what I've heard of other contests, the decisions are completely opaque, and the entries basically vanish into the ether, in terms of feedback, unless they were one of the winners.  That is probably precisely because the judges of those contests don't want the huge extra workload in composing individualized feedback for the contestants.

Just to chip a little two cents in and hopefully ease some doubts. The staff aren't ignoring people at all, they really just have a large amount of ground to cover. They have communicated with us and the feedback that we received was really tailored towards the game and specific to it's pros and cons. It's worth waiting for rather than for a cookie-cutter response like "HAI I THINK YOUR GAEM IS TOTES AWESUM" <- edited for dramatic effect.

I mentioned a few times in the forums that it would have been nice to have a few more frequent progress updates. Once judging neared an end, you and the other judges were very kind about telling folks what had happened in the past as well as what was left to accomplish, but these updates were absent for the majority of the three month period. Something as simple as a weekly report of "this week we judged X games, meaning we've judged Y in total and have about Z to go." This way people can at least take comfort in the fact that progress is being made on a regular basis.

No problem.

Alright. For those that want to share their official feedback, there is a thread for it:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/32706-post-your-judging-scores-here/

This contributes to transparency and to the clarification of the judging process for the participants of future installments of the contest -- wouldn't you like to have known this kind of information before you entered this one?
Dear @Kryzon, how exactly does it contribute to transparency?

No offence, but this really looks like a perfect thread topic for drama queen infestation.

And this is something that should not happen don't you think?

I am not calling YOU a drama queen. Don't get me wrong.

English is not my first language, so if something seems rude spare me.

I have good intentions.

It just feels like... a drama bait topic to me.

Posting any response you take from the judges would be nice thread really, but it should be, in my humble opinion, under a different spirit.

Not for transparency but more for educational reasons.

Your idea is nice, just with another point of view dont you think? :)   :thumbsup-right:

My apologies if I upset anyone, but when I read a sentence starting like "This contributes to transparency"

it is like the autor assumes that there is a NEED for more transparency.

Why? It's almost like telling everyone that, "You know what... something is wrong. Someone was unfair. Here is my personal dramatic contribution."

It is REALLY REALLY hard to be fair and square when judging a game.

What I read on the results was satisfying, congratualtions again to the winners.

The ONLY thing that was not transparent, was some sudden votes for some games that never had a chance to have such a number of votes, BUT if anyone cheated back then I was sure that they would not win. How was I sure? Well... IT WAS ANNOUNCED! And that is what happened. Non transparent were some users. Not the Judge team. Not to mention that Ars Harmonia crushed them anyway. Good game.

Look, I participated too. I did not win any big prize.

I might had different opinion on which game was best blah.. blah, but that's it. EVERYONE has his/her biased opinion.

STILL I feel a winner, for playing such awesome games, participating on a world wide competition, sharing ideas, and starting and finishing one project.

I also get some feedback by email that made me really happy I made my game for everyone. I am more than satisfied. Really.

So such a thread should be promoted and intended to share knowledge instead of  "transparency".

Seriously it sounds dramatic as it is.  :p

Just my opinion.

Cheers.

EDIT:

I would love to contribute what mistakes I did according to judges.

What I mostly asked though was final position.

Nothing more.

PS:

You got a point.

This is irrelevant though, to the feedback posting transparency contribution concept.

I think you are reading too much into it, Dreadshadow.

It's not that the judging process wasn't transparent; it's that with this official feedback that they're offering it can be even more transparent, provided that people publish what they get.

Transparency itself just means being able to comprehend something better, but I understand why you took it that way since there's a very political\negative meaning associated with this word, as to suggest that something bad happened and needs to be accounted for, brought to the public.

Perhaps I should've used a different word.

I forward you to the first post in that thread, I made my best to convey it as something that's educational. It is just about sharing information.

Honestly, we weren't going through the games together - we were all at different points and having to report in instead of actually play the games would have been pretty annoying. Personally, I had a list and went down it. Some games I played from start to end, some I had to have a break for (for whatever reasons) and others I wanted to mull on a bit before typing up my thoughts. If I also had to count how many I'd done each week.. well, I can't remember keeping count aside from how many names I had to go. I didn't focus on the past but on the ones left.

And I'm pretty sure that's what the others were focussed on as well.

Another reason I, personally (and I believe others as well) didn't report here is because we were ignoring this area of the forums to avoid any kind of bias. I stayed as far away from this side of the competition as I could because I didn't want to be accused of bias in any way, shape or form. I've seen it done before and it's never pretty on either side of the fence.

Also? Busy playing games. Never had a moment to spare to think about whether you guys were getting updates or not since the pressure was on to finish all the games and the write-ups that went with them.

Hope that explains things a bit better.

Wow!  I knew it was a lot of work, but had no idea it was that much.  When I go on travel and work 12 hour days, I get quite burned to a crisp by the end of the day.

My sympathies.

You should've seen my face when I got a pm saying, can we go faster? How fast can we go?!!?!

(It was mostly when they asked us for a status update since we were quiet and too busy judging and ranting on our notes)

*hugz* Q_Q
*hugs back and to Ksi as well*

:hugs: ;.;

Trying times. It helped that we had someone to talk to, even if we couldn't talk about the games until after we'd finished. Just sharing our stress helped a lot. Feel bad for the judges that didn't have someone else to poke.

This is really interesting.  It definitely sounds like you guys didn't plan on the huge (~800) number of entries that came in - which is totally reasonable; 800 entries completely eclipses any contests I've seen in the past.

About how many entries were you guys expecting when you created (or signed on to judge) the IGMC?  And what were the thoughts going through your mind on the final day as you saw a new entry popping up every few minutes?

I'm not a psychic, but I'm almost certain if the judges were posting contest updates during this competition, there would be a group of people complaining that they were too busy updating, and not spending enough time playing games to end the competition sooner.

But who knows, right?  RIGHT?!?!

Juice FX is great lol... this is like 3 different 5 frame animations put together through various frames of each of the the 3 poses. I use to animate almost all of my idle animations like this since I'm definitely NOT an animator... just someone who can kinda draw somewhat decently.
