Hello all, 2021 2022 is about upon us so it is time to start up the goals and progress thread for 2021. We are going to do it a little differently this year, as follows.

First, post your overall goal for 2021 2022. It can be as broad as finish my game, though specific steps towards that will help if possible

Then post your goal for the upcoming month (January as of this post). At the end of each month, post your new monthly goal and how progress is going towards the overall 2021 2022 goal.

Also if you have a broad goal but are unsure how to break it down, feel free to use this to discuss with others how to break down your overall 2021 2022 goal into manageable chunks. This way we can all help each other.

Let's all make some awesome games in 2021 2022!

My 2021 Goals:
-Finish Shipwrecked and release it.
-Write the plot for Montagor's Legacy so I can start dev on it.
-Enter at least 1 game jam and make a game for the contest.

January 2021 Goal: Get Shipwrecked to Beta status to the half way point of the game. I'm at the 25% point now, so it is very doable.

2021: Get to the point where I can start adding polish on my game. That means I need all of the NPCs and quests done.

January: Finish the game world. Almost done with dungeons as of right now, then I only need to add 4 or 5 mountain maps.

I've been working on this game since MV came out in October 2015. Word of advice: never make an open world game as your first (real) project. The amount of money and time spent on this as well as the insane periods of burnout have been ridiculous. Still, there is no way I can't finish it now. Looking forward to showing it off in 2022.

My goal for 2021 is to have a playable demo for all of my VX Ace projects, and possibly my MZ projects.

My realistic goal for January is to release the revamped demo for my Cube Trail project, as there isn't too much else that needs to be done. Just rewrite a few more things, make some items, and make the endpoint.

Any playable demo for Battle Castle is going to be delayed until who knows when, since I'm redoing a lot of stuff. The writing, combat, story progression, character personalities, are all getting a makeover. I said I would "post an update with my plans in the next few days" a few days ago, so I'm still working on that. I swear, I will post it soon.

My big goal is to get my game done by the end of November. Short term, I aim to get all of the Dragonbones stuff translated to sprite sheets. For January I also intend to finish the Wukong scenario in my project, and start the Medusa sequence.

HAPPY NEW YEAR in advance.

My goals for 2121 is to conquer back as much as possible all that I got sucked out of my life these last years.

So get my lab back and running
get all my boxed stuff sorted out
Finish digital art for both my games and others
Defeat my fears
take upon new challenges
care of my aging kitty guardians.

My goal for 2021 is to make more RPGs! I typically make more visual novels, but I'd love to have more RM games under my belt, especially with more things to do, like quests and combat! I feel like in my little experiment with Maze For You I was able to learn how to deal with regions for encounters and organizing quests. So I want to apply it at a bigger scale. My other goal is to finally finish Final Pirate Haven: Rebellion of Gilfer's Bay sometime this year or at least its first act.

January's goal is simple. Finish The Cursed Tower. First step is to finish all the eventing, which is almost done. Then apply voice over. Then enter beta stage. Once its been tested, I can release the game!

2021-wise, I just hope to finally feel confident/prepared/"not-overwhelmed-by-college" -enough to start making good progress inside of RPGMV itself when it comes to this project I've had on hold for years. Though I can't even say what I'd constitute as "good" progress yet...:rswt

January-wise, I need to continue slashing and trimming whatever scope of this project I can. I also need to come to terms that I shouldn't feel bad that this project definitely won't be some giant world-spanning sort of story.

Honestly, my goal for this month is to implement the new battle system throughout the demo, and without bugs. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake.

Main Goal is to get a Tech Demo out.
Though I likely won't have that much time during the first 3 months of the year. Don't really know how it's going to be after that.

I always find it hard to set goals, because a lot can happen, but a year is a long time, so ideally:
-Completely finish, balance and fine-tune player skill sets, as far as that goes in a test environment.
-Completely work out the rest of combat system mechanics.
-Create custom skill icons for everything I may need.
-Have at least some combat animations done (gonna have to dive into Effekseer, which I don't really want to...)
-Work on at least the beginning of the game, so it's more than a 2x1 map that auto-starts test battles.

Basically, I want my combat system about 100% done, so I don't really have to go back to it, except for making up enemy encounters as I go. I plan to keep my mapping simple for this game, because it's the one thing I dread with game making.

Daring to set a goal but I do want to make a game and actually finish it in 2021 after a few starting and quiting ones. The plans are ready, the rough edges are set and with a little help from the comminity I should be able manage it.

I've been struggling with my game's intro for about three years now. I hope to actually have a proper intro by 2022.

Baby Steps.

I have all the story related combat in the demo updated to the new on-map battle system. Now I have to do the rest of it...

I'll upload a new demo version after I get everything changed over.

I feel like I write this every year, but I really want to finish my main game (Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?) this year.

Usually when I post this, I don't really believe I'll finish my goal :aswt: , but I've done a lot more than I expected last year, so I'm feeling a lot more confident.

Since there's still a few days of December left and I'm not sure what I'll be able to finish in that time, I'll post my January goals later.

Good luck to everyone!

My goal for 2021 is to complete and release Ascension Day! We're almost there! It's the game being played in tonight's Monday Night Game Stream, so I hope to have some good critique I can take with me to the final game. Once that's implemented and I iron out the rest of the bugs, it'll be ready to release on Itch. I'm hoping to have it done early in the year. ^w^

My January goal(s):
- Finish mapping the Loupe Wood area.
That includes editing the tileset used, cutting the big map I have now into smaller maps and editing those, doing the interiors for the three houses on this map and mapping the Gingerbread house.
- Extra goal: Sprite the last few dwarves.
In the current demo they are still VXAce sprites, but I started the process to replace them with a franken of DS/XP in 2020. I believe I've finished most of them, with the exception of Rumpelstiltskin.

When I learned about multithreading in C++, one of the first things was that while heap is shared, each thread has its own stack and it's impossible to access another thread's stack.
So I wrapped the variables into a static class and passed its address to another thread. And it worked.

ScreenShot_3_30_2023_10_5_45.pngstarted working on a new area today. It's a warped version of being inside someone's home. Also moved the face and Panic gauges to be out of the way of the map names. switching moods actively changes what you encounter. Calm is normal while anxious is all the way up to Manic.
