SYNOPSIS
Devil’s Dungeon is an action - strategy game made with one singular objective: Gameplay. In this game, you create your own original character, choose from the 21 different classes, 126 weapon arts and 84 spells to create your own, unique battle style. Instead of playing in a pre - determined way, you will eventually have to develop your own strategies to succeed. If using items or skills to fully heal your entire party every turn does not sound appealing to you, if spamming the strongest or most "effective" skill over and over again sounds boring or just outright annoying to you and if skill and strategy matter to you, play this game.

Partake in nerve racking combat as every single fight in the game is essentially a boss battle. Your opposition will try to outsmart and outplay you, will they succeed with their well forged strategies made from the same classes and skills you have access to? Or will you learn to overcome them? Any mistake you make can be your end as death in this game is permanent.

You will have to constantly change and rethink your strategy to stay ahead of your enemies, or perish trying. But remember, you can always make another character, start anew and fail... until you best them and emerge victorious.

Every fight rewards you with new gear, spells and arts to experiment with. My goal was and still is to make every single skill in this game viable.

Primary weapons decide which skill pool you have access to as each weapon offers unique abilities of which you can usually equip up to 5. Secondary weapons extend that skill pool. Elemental Rings grant you skills of their respective element from weaker Tier 0 Spells up to Tier 3 Spells, the most advanced ones.

The Battle System
Basics:
Both you and your opponent have a "move" gauge. Once it reaches 100%, you can take an action. Most actions consume ST (Stamina) and deal damage reducing the enemy HP (Health Points). Once their or your HP drop to 0, the battle ends. Spells and a few weapons arts additionally consume MP (Mana Points) to activate. You can generate MP through either Spells or Rest / Guard, the 2 basic abilities that restore ST and every enemy / character can use.


Casting:
Certain abilities are casted when selected, meaning that they will not execute instantly, but instead after their casting time, which is usually dependant on your Casting or Agility stat. While casting a skill does not require any ST, executing it often does. As long as the execution cost (the required amount of ST) can be paid, the skill will activate.


Cooldowns:
After using a skill it may go on a cooldown, meaning that it cannot be used until a certain amount of turns has passed. Skills with a cast time go on cooldown regardless of execution.


Leave nothing to chance:
Skills never miss and there is no "dodging", thus no RNG tanks. All abilities either apply a status affliction at 100% or 0%. There is also no luck stat. Besides the damage variation of skills and the 5% crit chance (crits merely increase damage by 25%), RNG is not a thing, instead skill matters!


NO EXCESSIVE HEALING:
You do NOT out-heal enemy damage and enemies NEVER out-heal yours. There are NO items, but only your skill set and that of your enemy. Both you and your opponent will gradually and constantly lose HP until one of you is defeated. Every single lost point of HP counts and every mistake will be penalized.

This game was intended as a learning experience. My goal is too work on Devil's Dungeon 2, a story - driven dungeon crawler.

KNOWN BUGS
  • If both the player and the enemy die of DoT damage before either can act, the battle will not come to a conclusion. Reason for this bug: Ellye_s Active Time Battle plugin.
  • Certain skills display the wrong name when used.
  • Certain skills are displayed twice when used.
  • The Game can crash when entering or exiting the common event menu (action selection) in some rare cases. The reason is currently unknown. I need help with this bug as I have tried to figure it out, but failed! If you have a theory, I'd appreciate your help, uwu. --> intended to be fixed with version 1.4
  • In very few cases, descriptions of skills and abilities are incorrect.
  • Problems with the weather system behaviour (e.g. Interior Rain)

Save/Load complete. Kind of. There should be trinkets or medals that fit in the empty space of the bookmarks to show progression. Was gonna post it earlier, but I couldn't link GIFs. Don't mind all of them having a style level of 000, it just means they're all nakey and don't have anything equipped.
