RMMZ A concept I'm thinking of working on

So I wanna practice a few ideas and improve my skills with game development. I decided on an idea that would help me practice a few things for future ideas.

I'll probably make a demo concept of the idea and see what people think of it. I welcome people to rip it apart both now and if/when it gets a release (it's the only way I'll learn).

I also love people's ideas/questions so feel free to share. Things you'd like to see in this kinda game*, character stuff, ect.

*this one is really great because it's excuse to try new stuff.

Plot:
Priscilla is wealthy young lady attending school in a semi-futuristic world. Curious about rumors surrounding a missing classmate named Roza she follows the bread crumbs left behind and is soon drawn into a mystery involving a fantastical world where magic is an everyday occurrence.

Reid is a young member of the Adventurers Guild. During a routine mission to defeat some bandits he meets a young girl in strange clothing by the name Roza. Confused and scared Roza seems to have little knowledge of the world as Reid knows it. Despite this Roza has a powerful magical aura and it soon becomes apparent that someone is after her.

These two groups must work in tandem to stop a terrible conspiracy to take over their two worlds.

Ideas for the game and just stuff I'd like to improve:
-Controlling two parties. At some point in the story there will be places where you can switch and communicate between the two parties (communitcating with the other party will be used to remind/hint to the player what the party is supposed to be doing mostly). This will be required to move forward at different points as well.
-Using some kind of alternative to random encounters.
-Improving my own use of common events.
-Improving battle balance.

So that's what I got so far. I'll keep refining the idea, but I love suggestions.

I think storywise it could be interesting if Roza and Priscilla end up in groups that arent friendly with eachother at first.

This is cool. I like games with two separate storylines. :D

At least there's one interesting stuff I can come up with:
Differentiate the core gameplay. Since Priscilla is from our modern world,
battle is rare. Her gameplay revolves around puzzles.
Reid is from fantasy world, so battle is more common.
His gameplay is leaning towards traditional JRPG.

At least there's one interesting stuff I can come up with:
Differentiate the core gameplay. Since Priscilla is from our modern world,
battle is rare. Her gameplay revolves around puzzles.
Reid is from fantasy world, so battle is more common.
His gameplay is leaning towards traditional JRPG.
That could lead to some interesting contrast. Even the few "battles" Priscilla could have would be more "puzzle oriented". I'll most certainly consider this idea.

Edit: Plus it would help me with my practice of creation of puzzles for future games.

when they join forces at some point.

Maybe it can be done by making Priscilla gain more exp despite few battles,
or giving her access to modern weaponry.
This way Priscilla won't be underleveled or
considerably weaker than Reid when they join forces.
It's interesting to think about. :D

Or change how she gains exp to begin with. Reid could gain exp the traditional way from battle were as Priscilla could gain exp from puzzle solving instead...
