Now yes, I can have it where it summons a auto battle char, but one of the best RM games made already does that, plus I did that in the game I was making way back on the original RPG Maker for the PS, besides I want summons to be really special this time around, but if I have it just adding an additional char in battle, it would need to be prenerfed(or it would break the game), so this is what I'm gonna do, tell me how awesome it is :)

Basically you have a summoner Char, whom acts like a medium for the summon. When she calls forth a summon, she leaves/aka basically transforms into the summon, which she has complete control of(and yea while she becomes the summon, she losses access to her reg skill set).

If the Summon dies in battle, it doesn't just stay there dead, instead, she reverts back to her Summoner self. Also if the summon survives the battle, they can get xp(levels, more stats, new skills, and abilities, ect), further more after the battle is over, ofcourse she will revert back to her Summoner self.

I just thought of something, I also need to rig the still in summon form/auto revert form common event to give the summoner the xp that the Summon got in that battle(shouldn't be too hard to pull off, the hardest part of the whole setup, but I should beable to pull it off).

Edit: Yep, got it to add the xp to the summoner char, when the summoner reverts back to herself(aka rejoins the party on the map, damn I'm good, now that's some fancy eventing).

Well anyway this is my summoning system.

Sounds like the druid's shapeshifting ability from some tabletop RPGs.

I can't see why it wouldn't work ;)

It does, I ran some tests on it, and I worked out all the angles already, so I know it will work, I just wanted to show off my idea, and see what people think about it.

Andar's linked script, yea it sure does :) Well It's been said, pretty much everything that has been done in the FF franchise, has been recreated in RPG Maker, via scripts, this would be clear evidence of that, that's for sure.

Great story(and my favorite char from any game, but sigh they ruined her in the sequel), and one of the best summoning features in the entire franchise, It's a shame the rest of the game was meh.

This also sounds a tad like Breath of Fire 3, and 4 I believe.

But I'm impressed you pulled it off with events. Switching around party members with events is major headache material for me.

One idea I had, was to use this method, along with other methods. Like, there are say, 10 summons, and 3 of your characters can summon them.

One summoner calls a Summon to do a powerful attack, like most Final Fantasies.

One summoner calls a Summon to fight in their place, like in Final Fantasy X.

One summoner actually fuses with the Summon, like...I dunno. Has that been done?

Thanks :)  I love to prove how crazy flexible the event commands are, and the fact most people don't have any idea that the limitations of such, are so minute, that 99.9% of anything you want to do, can be done through just the event commands, no scripting required, makes me want to do such through eventing even more.

Actually the switching char around was the easy part, to get the system to run calculation after the battle, to give the Summoner  whatever xp the summon got from the battle, was the hard part, because the way RPG Maker has things displayed/setup for creating calculations through variables makes things confusing at times, but I have always been great at figuring things out(I have done sick things through eventing, that would make your head explode just by trying to figure how it all works, luckily this is a much easier thing to figure out then certain things I've done in the past).

Omg don't do this to me, you bastard lol. I'm really loving the Fusing Summons idea, while having 2 full fledged Summoners would be redundant as hell, my main battle system revolves around items having special abilities, so nothing is stopping me from giving various equipment(note: all equipment with such a strong ability will be super rare, but yet so worth the effort) the ability to summon specific summons, between that, and the full fledged Summoner char,I can so see many opportunities for a fusing system.

I'm not gonna have Summons just be glorified spells like most FFs though at all, so basically it will be like 2 special char(or more lol), to form a even more powerful being(I'll probally have the ability unlocked, if both summons are = or higher then a certain lv, and both are in play at the same time, a special fuse option will show up)

Thanks for the idea, that's a great option to add even more dimension to my summons.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
