A Couple of Battle Formula Questions

I'm rather new to MV's Battle Formula system, having just mastered Fes's format of damage, but I had a few questions...

-If I wanted a skill to do a flat rate of damage that ignores all stats (a Fire spell that did 300 damage, regardless of user's Magic Attack or the enemy's Magic Defense), would I just put in the number of the amount of damage and leave it at that?

-I also want to create an skill similar to Unison League's Deadly Arabesque ability ("Ability Power 60 - 160. Damages 1 enemy 4 times with magic attacks that use ATK and MATK stats. Ability Power of each attack is random.") and Qwaser Waltz ability ("Ability Power 120. Damages 1 enemy 3 times with magic or physical damage chosen randomly.
Added effect: 50% chance to paralyze, confuse, and blind target for 10 seconds."
). What would be the damage formula to replicate these types of effects? [Qwaser Waltz does each hit as magic or physical, not random chooses all 3 to be magic or all 3 to be physical- ie: Hit 1 is magic, Hit 2 is physical, Hit 3 is magic: Hit 1 is magic, Hit 2 is magic, Hit 3 is physical: etc)

For your first question the answer is yes.
Flat damage is just a straight number.

In your second question:

What does ability power mean? Is that the damage done? What does "attacks that use ATK and MATK stats" mean? That's too vague to provide a clear formula.

A lot of this has nothing to do with the damage formula.

To damage one enemy four times, set Scope to 1 Enemy and Repeat to 4.

To choose randomly between physical and magical attacks, you either need to:
A. have a skill that calls a common event which will Force Action (three times) from a random choice of 2 other skills, one a physical attack and one a magical attack (repeat in the skill set to 1), OR
B. use a plugin that allows you to write complex skill results in a notetag.

To add a 50% chance of adding a state (like confuse, blind, or paralyze), add an Effect. Type is Add State, choose your state and set it to 50%.

I feel like you could use some time over in the Tutorials forums or perusing the MV Help file, as some of these things are very basic concepts in using the database. I'd suggest you try SRD's Beginner Tutorial Series if you don't know where to start.

Ability Power: The ability's base damage

What does "attacks that use ATK and MATK stats" mean?
It combines the user's Attack and Magic Attack as if they were one stat (think pre-Gen 2 Special stat in Pokemon)- that combined stat is then compared to the enemy's Defense if the ability does physical damage or to the enemy's Magic Defense if the ability does magic damage

These parts I knew how to do- I only included them to keep the full ability descriptions from the source I was quoting.

Formula 1:
Ability Power 60 - 160
(a.mat + a.atk) * 60 -160

Formula 2:
Ability Power 120
(a.mat + a.atk) * 120

I'm assuming that it's multiplcation but yeah everything else is just basic math.

Also I'm basing it on the assumtion tha Ability Power, as you said, was atk + mat.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
