A Doom RPG...Thoughts?

Before I get started, I just want it clear that I have ZERO INTENTION OF DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
I remember when I asked about making a fansub of the game "Blaster Master" for the NES, and everyone said I shouldn't do it because of "cease and desist" letters, legal action, etc.

This is just a hypothetical question.
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a DOOM RPG made in RMMV?
Levels made to look like doom, but with a classic RPG feel.
Random encounters of the monsters, maybe some modifications of some of the characters?
It just sounds like a really cool thing, ya know?

I could certainly be wrong, but in my opinion (although your idea is interesting) it wouldn't likely make for a good game. Doom was liked for its constant, action-packed gameplay (kind of the opposite of an RPG with random encounters) and disorienting 3D feel - and besides, it didn't even age well anyway. I'd much rather see a spiritual sequel to Doom in something like Unity, with modern game design principles guiding the effort, than an attempt to make it into an RPG.

I have yes. It would be made to use classic RPG mechanics, instead of the perspective Doom RPG uses.

Yeah, I would be, and I think it already has with the new Doom game. I believe that some of the hidden areas have that incorporated into the parts of the game.

There is a very active fandom made up of people both young and old who are still making .wads for Doom who would argue differently.

There's already a DOOM RPG that was made for mobile, while not the same style as a typical jrpg, I believe it wasn't as well received as it didn't mesh with why the fans of the game enjoyed it.

Doom is even based off a game of dungeons and dragons where demons came from a portal and took over the map.

You only have to worry about C & D letters if you are trying to make money out of your fangame (or making a fangame out of Nintendo property).

Couldn't finish it because of lack of coding skills, I think.

@PlayBoyMan Awwh really? A shame. It looked fantastic! He showed us that it can be done, however. All you need to do is be creative with how you use the engine and your assets. :)

It wouldn't be easy to convey properly, DooM is about a sole marine with godlike speed who took on the entire army of hell just to save his rabbit, he never needed to level up as he was already so powerful the demons had written folklore about him as an unstoppable angel of no remorse, an RPG would largely demerit the gaudy overabsurd notion of the "Doomguy" because his power isn't from his experience, his power is from his hatred of demons and his desire to save Fluffy. It works well with a non-progressive FPS with little to no dialogue because the Doomguy wasn't one for words, in fact even in the remake, not a single word comes out of his mouth, he's a silent force of intimidating reckoning.

It just wouldn't do well as an RPG, and the mobile game demonstrates that.

I've seen a couple action games made with RPG Maker that take after it inspiration wise, but these are either largely broken mechanically or out of date, or never made it past their first demo, after some curious sleuthing I found this, which uses the music and sound effects of both DooM and Heretic, but it's buggy as hell and only goes for fifteen minutes, a lot of the dialogue is also pretty cringey.

I'm from a PC game time where Doom broke the 3D shooter mold because it didn't have Nazi's in it. Good times.
Fun fact: they used Doom in US army training; I saw it on one of those tech shows.
The level with the baby monsters in Doom64, I can't stand. The music is so creepy, those sounds! My college roommate was playing it and there are like these evil baby noises, yikes!
I'll stop right there.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
