I hope for C# and modern aspects of gamedesign (multiple resolutions, pixelmovement, animated enemies, maybe an action battlesystem)
More on GPU not CPU and so on...
Multiple Tile sizes(No more MapLimits, no more data base limits - there is no need to them. Just an useless limit)
XP Mapping with more layers. 3x3 or bigger Autotiles. A nicer RTP xD I hate MV and VXAce RTP)
Let's hope it doesn't need community scripts to function properly on PC, and includes basic commands such as 'exit' on the main menu. Not a fan of the whole tablet\phone design for MV. Oh! And I really, really hope there's a similar, if not improved, character generator.
Oh yes! I really hope the generator would include more animations than just the different walking animations and the damaged animation.
You know, stuff like sitting on the ground, shaking their head, nodding etc.
I hope it’s simply an update with PIXI5 and some quality of life improvements in the editor (meaning we can pretty much import our current MV projects), if this is the case then it’s a win even if we’ll likely have to tweak some plugins here and there, but nothing insurmountable.
Especially if people release tutorials/guides to help converting projects or plugins.. Let’s see if it’s what i think it needs to be, no way we’re going back to square one again after all the work the community has done to make MV the amazing tool it is today.

A new rpg maker? Oh, I’m excited, but also a bit reserved. Because I have many projects going in MV already that’ll probably take me years to finish at this pace. And unless this new engine is so awesome that it would allow me to easily port my projects with minimal compromising while offering new improvements I can’t easily get in MV, I might have to restrain myself...
...On the other hand, I’m really hoping for some expansive, brand new, fresh (and just not reimagined) R to the T o the P, for that new engine. If it has that? Well, then I’ll most likely jump at it and join that inevitable rat-race where everyone tries to be the first one to finish a game with those new assets. Hehe... (it always happens).
Well seriously though. Unless it’s complete crap, I’ll buy it. Or more likely, pre-order it even. If nothing else just to try it out and compare it to MV, or, so I can use it in the future. I’m too deep into the RM-swamp to quit now anyway, so I might as well jump onboard the next bandwagon Kadokawa throws at us... unless... it IS complete crap that is.
I hope this new engine allows for more SV battler frames (if the dev want).

I hope this new enigma allows you to set your own tile size grid...
...and I hope this new engine allows us to use custom sized tile sheets.
...and, a ton of other stuff that we already have in Pixel Game Engine (from same company).
Ok. A new RPG maker in 2020. I think this, at least, means that it will have a decent port for mobile.
But I also think that I will not quit Mv any soon.
Also, a little disappointed. Mv needs a lot of improvements and in the majority, are simple things that need to be done. Like the ones said in the topic asking about "what do you want to see in mv".
So I hope that you do not give up on mv yet. Although the community put a lot of effort and fixed bugs, tutorials for mobile, etc, I still hope that someone takes care of mv editor and main codes.
But I will not deny that I'm excited too!
While I mostly agree, I’d be thrilled if it had a support for making Etrian Odyssey/Persona styled 3D mazes (as a BONUS option). You know, cream on the cake. Since I’m already making that type of game with MV3D, I’m biased but I can’t see how having something like that as extra being a bad thing if the feature ends up at least decent.
If the entire engine is 100% 3D like SMILE on the other hand... I dunno. Unless they’d set a new record with quality (of quality) RTP that was also super versatile so we could all make do with it for a long, long, long time ( because I doubt the community would spam out 3D assets), I think that could spell disaster.
But again, I already have MV. If I don’t like this new engine I’ll just stick with MV a bit longer. So I’m not too worried earthier way. If they think they can innovate somehow I’m not completely against it. I just hope that if they do, they’d do it so well that we would get blown away by this new “thing”.
However, whatever it is it has already been decided long ago anyway so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see - and hope for the best.
Plot Twist: They'll make the tile sets 64 x 64 so that they can sell "officially upscaled" versions of existing packs.
Joking aside, there would probably have to be a lot of new built-in functionality to get much of the existing customer base to switch over or to convince new customers it's worth buying over existing RPG Makers that already have a ton of community created custom options.
So I'm resuming work on the Shadowstar Trilogy. I've decided that it will take place between the end of G4 and the start of G5, and two of the Lost Rulers will be Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer (who is the moon princess in my AU).
