With the new screenshots, there's a totally different style of character. More like the current MV chibi style. Is it possible this big new RTP has multiple styles? Is it possible there's a tall character version? Hmmmm. O_O
I'm thinking it's more likely these "leaked screenshots" are either fake or just a mockup. Anyone can make a fake leak.

There are some plugin creators who've had access to MZ in some form or fashion for quite a while now (several were consulted on the maker in general when it was in dev.)
Were any artists consulted similarly? My main hope is for some more freedoms/less restrictons for importing custom graphics.

It... isn't a leak. It's right on the store page.
Oh, I thought you were referring to some "leaked" screenshots that were posted in this thread a while back, my bad.

Yeah, I wish they'd provide a tall character option in the RTP too. Normally I'd say this is impossible since they're usually pretty conservative with what they provide in the RTP, but apparently MZ has the biggest RTP yet? So it's not impossible.

Just remember biggest could be 20 versions of Eric and Harold. Now you too can make Eric in the Sea!

Any yes that is an actual game.

To add to the theories on which devs are helping with this you can probably play close attention to the cool projects that have gone silent on here with the respected owner member still actively browsing the forums :)

not really lol @rafman2k

but I think a features I would love (as a plugin developper) is the game engine come with a typescript Type definition files so we can use typescript as a way of developping plugin.

It does simplify our job a lots

and before told me typescript isn't good for the plugin environnment since it is static yes you can extends existing class using Module augmentation which allow to add new method to a class

I wonder if the SV Actors (of which I hope we still get) will be the same size as regular map sprites or not.
Hopefully we will have more control over followers where you can control their follow speed and or distance to have less of a robotic caterpillar feel to it. I know there were some plugins created but something built in would be ideal

A code editor that doesn't look like basic notepad from windows would be nice. Something that can detect syntax errors and has syntax highlighting.

That's exactly what I told a friend that I hoped for. The styles clash in MV and seem a bit out of place, happened also in RPG Maker 2003 (which was much worse). I really want something more similar to FF SNES games where the sprites style was the same both in battle and in maps.

You remember when MV came out, and yall done the same thing ~ gave some people early access to write up some plugins for the release? Remember how it actually caused a fair few plugin developers that were actually really freakin good programmers to vanish due to how 'certain individuals' were given priority and in turn, a huge advantage? I DO!

Lots of the programmers who were 'left out' so to speak, literally felt like their work was not valued within the community and decided to simply not give the community more of their time. Speaking as a person who knows many that felt this way, and as one of them myself, I know this to be 100% true. Perhaps yall should have maybe thought about contacting some of those developers to see if you could repair some of those burnt bridges? no?

IDK, just a thought. Not that it will make any difference.

Side note: I do know other (really good) programmers from the community, who have requested information or possibilities for 'early access' and basically been told no. So I cannot help but wonder who you guys actually deemed suitable to get early access...

nan visual studio code is free and actually does the job by itself so no need of a 'speudo' code editor for RM when there's PLENTY of optiosn to do so using Visual studio code.

I made a little comparison picture for the heck of it.

MZ does look a little nicer.. not so much green and yellows.. which i like.
Also, yup.. Layer is right between Draw and Scale.

I don't know. Sure there will be a huge disadvantage for coders who come too late at the party. But, if their goal is just boosting their ego, they might as well as just not contributing. You contribute to the community because there's a lack of something on it. Not about to race to see who made a certain plugin first and they want to make a name. If something is already been done by someone, I would just redirect people to use them. Except you have a different idea of the implementation (which will be challenged). If their goal is to make a fortune (sell plugins), it's a barrier they need to overcome.

Honestly, I'm not sure who, because if they contacted me it wasn't a no, it was a "hey I'm looking into it, but we're not quite ready for it yet."

The ones that have had access already were people who did consulting. We didn't open it up to a ton of people, it was a very small group.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
