Description of the Feature:
  • In the options menu, a checkbox that says something like, "automatic shadows," that when not checked, the maker will not automatically place shadows next to walls. (The checkbox would be checked by default)

Code for Implementation:
Not a programmer, but should be easy: just disable the code that automatically places the shadows.

Mockups:

On the left is what it looks like when I don't do anything. On the right is what would happen if this checkbox weren't checked.

Why is this feature good?
  • It gets really annoying removing them every single time you place wall tiles if you don't want the shadows in your project. With this feature, you would have to keep going back and removing them.

Possible issues with this feature?
  • There is a chance beginner users would underestimate the importance of having depth in buildings and walls.

Yes please! I detest autoshadows!

Not sure it's a good idea to bump your topic in here. It's not like you're asking for help with something and aren't getting any responses.

True, before I bumped this, it was only like the third down in the thread list, I only realized how stupid bumping this was after I did it. :p

It always makes me laugh seeing your comments on the screenshots thread: "It's terrible, terrible, terrible"
And yup, they are. It's funny because thanks to noticing how strangely simple they were I began exploring into the parallaxing world.

I support this notion +

If you allow me to improve on your improvement, a general checkbox on the options tab for the whole project is nice, but complemented with a check box inside every map creation is nice, too - sometimes the autoshadow is good/bad on one specific type of map, so ways of adjusting it more than just on/off for the whole project would be good, IMHO.

Well, flipping a switch for them on wouldn't automatically add them to a map you've already made without them, and turning them off wouldn't remove them from maps they're already present on, so a simple on/off button would maybe work best built into the editor itself, right?

When you use the Steam version, you can find Archeia's No Autoshadow Plugin. Just enable it and no auto shadows will be displayed in-game. They still would show up in the editor but .. yeah.
You can find it here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RPG Maker MV\dlc\RPGmakerWeb_plugins\Archeia

Hi,

I'll look into this for a future version, since it wouldn't take long to implement. I don't unfortunately have the final say as to what is actually implemented in the end though. I'll do my best to try to get this added though.

Thanks for the suggestion,

We need it not to show up in the editor more.

I think someone made a small 2KB plugin for this; it removes all auto-shadows from your game, entirely.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
