Dropping my current progress on this game here. Obviously all of this is liable to change as I go - expect to see a lot of unfinished assets and RTP placeholders ໒(⊙ᴗ⊙)७✎▤
Main road along the fjord.
Abandoned camp.
The road to Ridgemark
Ridgemark + concept for layout.
Dungeon architecture tileset
Priory exterior (+ a little peek at interior wood paneling uwu)
Wilde: The main player character; Wilde is what's known as a Death Walker. Death Walkers are a kind of necromancer, able to commune with the deceased, and even physically cross into the beyond. They are often called in to deal with problems involving hauntings or undead, but are otherwise given a wide berth due to the stigma around necromancy. He hails from the Cairnlin settlement in Carterhaugh. Wilde is polite, but lacks confidence in his abilities as a necromancer. He's a practiced herbalist, and good with animals - better with them than he is with people.
Pehj: Wilde's goat. A fine and noble, albeit obstinate, steed. Enjoys goat treats.
Einar: The ranger lieutenant who contacted Wilde for aid. Einar went missing shortly after he sent the missive to Carterhaugh. When Wilde gets out of his prison cell in the priory dungeons, he finds a giant fitting Einar's description laid out on a slab, naked and confused. He lacks any memory of himself - even his name. He barely remembers how to speak.
Dinny: An adventurous halfling cartographer who has, miraculously, made it all the way to Ridgemark without encountering any trouble. She can be found throughout Ridgemark and the Priory, selling maps to 'secrets' and letting Wilde save his progress. She's carefree and friendly, and can be conversed with for advice and will let Wilde use her wagon to take a rest and browse her books for Deepest Lore.
Dubhghaill: An ancestral spirit Wilde contacts when things get truly dire. Dubhghaill remains in contact afterwards, and will teach Wilde useful magic skills. Helpful, though a bit distant, Dubhghaill offers many esoteric insights to the strange magics at play.
This game will contain some mature themes including violence, body horror and non-sexual nudity.
A horror fantasy set in a remote mining town called Ridgemark in the northernmost country of Dyne. There have been an increase in strange disappearances along the main roads heading inland, along with sightings of undead.
The necromancer Wilde's aid and expertise is requested, but the journey from his homeland of Carterhaugh all the way to Dyne is a long and perilous one. By the time he has arrived, the situation has already progressed beyond control. Most roads are closed off, and with the fjords frozen local trade has come to a standstill all while ranger patrols do everything they can to ward off the horrors that have taken up residence in the wintery wildlands.
Ridgemark, a mining settlement situated in the mountains just shy of the eastern border between Dyne and the Indalian Empire, seems to be the epicenter of the issues plaguing Dyne; particularly the old priory that looms over the town.
Wilde must use all his wits and cunning at his disposal to get to the bottom of this mystery while keeping himself out of harm's way.
The game is, at it's core, a mystery/puzzle/adventure game with a dark fantasy/horror coat of paint. Puzzles will be largely environmental in nature, focusing on navigating hostile terrain and either neutralizing or slipping past enemies. The story and puzzles will have multiple solutions with varying consequences depending on the player's choices.
