When you register, your account is set at 'validating' while an email is sent out. As soon as you click on the link in the email, it's validated. If you didn't receive the email, it may have gone into a spam folder somewhere - check in your local spam folder, if you have one, otherwise use webmail to see if the server has picked it up and assumed it's spam. If you find it, you might be able to just click the link and take it from there.
Otherwise, is there an option to resend the email anywhere on the screen when you log in?
If not, the admins should be able to fix it for you.
