We clearly disagree over the definition of "Excitement". I don't think the whole countdown thing was necessary for just saying "Hey guys! It's in a box now!"
That's pretty negative. >: I think this is a great thing to get excited over! RPGMaker's finally gotten big enough so that we get physical copies! I'm really proud of the program and how far it's come. :> Plus hey, the countdown was really fun, even if I already knew what it was for, haha~

then maybe you should get out and stop posting in a thread dedicated to the boxed copies. thanks for ****ting up the thread though!!!! :---DDDDD
Thank you for being a clear definition of why RM communities are becoming worthless. And I am not posting to ruin the thread, I just thought that with a countdown and the excitement we were going to see something exciting and new.

A very pretty box!

It's now a physical copy that can be put onto shelves in stores and reach a broader audience that way. It's exciting! Or you can just use it to rub your face against it to show how much you love RPG Maker.

For a program that hasn't seen box form in a long time, heck the only ones that are in box form were the DS, PSX, and PS2 version... the console version. For the PC version this is a big thing. 95, up to ace this program has been growing in popularity. Ace was even seen in an anime (I forgot the name of it, but I was laughing hard). Go on other sites and forums and at least people in there knows about Maker. Now more people are gonna know about RPG Maker since it will be in retail.

Also who is this "we" you are referring to?

@TDS While it's not what I was expecting either, this is a huge deal for Degica and by extension, for the community. One thing I appreciate about the guys in charge here is that they interact with and are a part of the community. The more money this product brings in, the more they can put into the product. The more money they put into the product, the better off we all are.

So, while the immediate release may not seem overly impressive for those of us who already have the program, this is a big deal for the community at large, almost as big as Ace itself being released.

edit: Spelled Degica wrong.

Well, it may not be to you, but it IS something new and exciting for us.

A lesson for you though, next time don't keep your expectations up too high for RMW upcoming major announcements. Our definitions of 'excitement' differ anyway right? Save you the accumulation of hatred, and save us the time repeating this difference.

Are the exclusive resources something completely new, or are they already (or have been) available by other means? (Store, Member+, Early Adopters)

It's a mix of both. There's some really cool never released resources included!
Gah! Now I have to get this! :D

This is RPG Maker history. It's pretty monumental, IMO.

It was my biggest project working for Degica, and I'm quite proud that the community, and RPG Maker itself has come this far. I can't express enough how much this community means to me, and how proud I am of the community. I cannot wait until i can walk into a store and pickup a copy and see it. When I took my job at Degica, this was the project I discussed with Mitchell.

I'm incredibly excited to see it come to fruition.

More than anything though, this is an AWESOME score for the western RPG Maker market. So congratulations to everyone! More exciting things are coming in the near future!!

Its been a great ride, and I'm looking forward to doing more great things with the RPG Maker series with what time we have left in 2012 and the upcoming 2013!

That first part was unnecessary. Don't ruin the actually happy mood and excitement right now. The countdown was fine, it brought suspense, and this is something exciting sure not new in a sense since it is the same program, but come on the Maker series survived on word of mouth, and now that it can be in retail stores, the amount of money will help everyone here. This is good news!

Wait, does everyone gets the buy one get one deal, including those who are going to buy through Amazon? Or is the deal exclusive to forums members? I'm kind of confuse on how it is set up. I'm buying through the forum store and if I put one in my cart and pay, I will get 2 right?

Every order between now and December 31st gets the buy 1 get 1. This is only for the box copy.

oh wow this person disagrees with my views and sentiments!!! he must be the downfall of the community!

idk the 'im an elitist for no reason' seems a lot worse than me @_@

dont insult something my best friend put a lot of work into.

more importantly, if you dont have something nice to say dont say it at all! which can also be interpretted as 'if you dont like something dont post in a thread dedicated to it'.

thanks for being mad though. ill give you a 4/10

Ordered. Of course I'll have to wait a week or so now to receive it. Then I have to figure out who to give the other box to.

Well, I can't honestly say I'm excited in the magnitude a lot of you seem to be, nor do I think the hype was justified from a consumer's point of view - however, that doesn't stop me for being very pleased about this news.

It's nice to know the Maker is starting to break through into the West a bit more, and I'm certain we'll see some exciting releases because of it. I can't complain about that.

If I buy a physical copy, am I allowed to glue Jet's box art to it?

I'm assuming those who already own the software couldn't just get a box?? :3 (Doesn't have to have the software in it)

Just for collecting mostly. And if there's resources only being released with the box purchase will those who already have the digital version have access to the bonuses?

While I would be all for just giving you a box, we only have copies with discs, so we can't do that, unfortunately.

As in the FAQ, some of the bonuses are completely unreleased, some are previously released. :)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
