[Ace] Help making a Pokémon-like game

Hi people!

I want to make a pokémon-like fangame and I would like to know if there's a way to prevent the first actor in the party from entering the battle. My idea is to also lock that actor, that would be, of course, the trainer, as the leader and the rest of your party is made by the monsters you've captured that are the ones that actually battle.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me with this.

Please check the master script list - you aren't the first one to have that idea, and someone has already made a lot of the scripts needed to create such an engine in RM.

I've actually wanted to make a Pokemon game that plays like an RPG, as opposed to having trainers and such.

But... isn't Pokémon an RPG?

Trainers are NPCs and your MC is the MC.

If you're not doing Pokémon, you might wanna go install the scripts manually- instead of downloading the complete project.
The difference is that I don't want to send one monster at a time like pokémon but to send all my party like RPG Maker default projects to fight all enemies. I also want my party following the leader (or trainer) and not having them in pokeballs.

But many thanks anyway. I think that kit would help me a lot.

Anyway, good luck! I hope somebody can make a script or adapt another one.

But wait... couldn't you just make your party a bunch of actors, and use the Add/Remove party member? And maybe edit the "battles" so it removes the player (Remove MC from party) and when the battle finishes, add him again?

That sounds like a good solution. The thing is that I'm new with RPGM and I know nothing about scripts. That's why I'm looking for scripts that don't need modifications to make the game how I like.

In that case, start your game without worrying or using any scripts and see how far you can go without them.
Scripts are NOT neccessary to make a good game, RM can do a lot without scripts. Only add scripts if what you want can't be done without them.


You might want to follow the link in my signature for the tutorials that will show you the basics - working thorugh those tutorials will help you a lot in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. Actually, I haven't added many scripts to my project but the only thing that stops me from going on is preventing the leader from entering the party. If I could get the solution to that I'll be happy.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
