[Ace] PRoblem with Yanfly's Core System

Having a bit of a problem using Yanfly's Core Engine for VX Ace. When i use a randomly generated character sprite for my main character, I get a line 840 error. This error goes away if i used a pre-created sprite (actor 1, actor 3, etc).


Here is a copy of the appropriate script line.


Unfortunately, my knowledge of scripting is, well, non-existent. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance.

I really doubt that that is the case, the connection is somewhere else.


1) in most cases, NIL-errors are the result of loading an incompatible savefile after changing something on the script editor. I suggest starting a new game in playtest instead of loading a saved file (I'm talking about game saves, NOT project saves)


2) If you get the same error on a new game, we need the full error trace to find out what really happened.


Please follow the link "how to use a script" in my signature to the bughunting tips and give us a screenshot of the backtracer console output when that error happens.

Is that the Battle Engine Core script, or the Core script? There are two of them, and both have the line you listed. Please clarify. The one you linked is the Core, but the way you named it I think you have the Battle Engine Core. Those two are not the same.


Edit: Nevermind, you have the battle engine. Setup_popups only exists in the battle engine. You're missing the Core engine, which is the script you linked. Install that script too, above your current scripts.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
