One thing I'm concerned about is that you'll only be able to have small sprites, as the focus of the engine seems to be 32 pixels or something. Hopefully you'll be able to use larger sprites. :/

I doubt they would limit that, nor the screen sizes.
Remember, this uses JavaScript just like MV.
And since it's using the MV moniker, it's probably has some means of at LEAST letting you export to more than one platform.
I could be wrong though, as the information states it's only for windows by way of steam.

Just because it (the editor) only runs on windows, doesn't mean it doesn't export (completed games) to other platforms.

Just a small point - it says that it is coming as Early Access in the summer of 2018. You might have to wait for longer than that for the full stable release.

Yep. Summer 2018 begins in 3 weeks in the northern hemisphere, but it goes for 3 months. So IF it's released IN summer, it could still be 3 months away.

I am so in, dear lord.

I hope they model it after Mario Maker's UI.

I can tell you now, they're not.
    Why would they?
Mario Maker is more like a toy than a serious piece of game development software.
Pixel Game Maker MV is a more serious tool like RPG Maker.
You're going to have a big complex UI.

My hope is that it's less difficult to figure out than IG Maker was.
I also hope they have a means added for making slopes and hills.. and considering the fact that they mention "sonic the hedgehog" at one point in an article I read, that we're gonna get that ability.
    I can't wait for it's release.. but I hope there's a demo somewhere..

I wonder why none of the staff on this forum have been talking about it?

Well, .. other than Kes chiming in i mean.

My point was .. it's as if they don't know anything at all and they're not involved over at Degaica Degica.. how ever it's spelled.. or they're maybe not allowed to talk about it.

@MikePjr Mods are not employees of Degica, (we are volunteers doing this in our free time) and we do not have advance knowledge of Degica's business plans, only of things relating to the running of this forum. We therefore only have the information that's in the public domain on this, which is no more than anyone else. Hence we are not chiming in with additional information or comments. No great secrecy/conspiracy/NDA/whatever.

Pixel Game Maker MV is not being published by Degica, and is instead being handled internationally by Playism.

Degica believes that with our current staff, we would be better served to keep our focus on the main RPG Maker line and the newer Visual Novel Maker engines. Still we wish for nothing but the best for the engine, and hope that it is both good and successful. :)

    Sounds good to me.
I've never heard of Playism... then again I had not heard of Degica at first either..
So I'm gonna guess that anything new RPG Maker related moving forward is gonna be handled by Degica, even a new RPG Maker.

Kinda makes me sad, i was hoping for a unified place to go for things in one place.. i'm guessing some other forum is gonna pop up somewhere else for PGMMV though...

You can make fully functioning levels in Mario Maker.

The Mario Maker drag-and-drop UI combined with a programming tab would be great. I mean, that's basically what a lot of engines do already.

Mario Maker actually has a pretty intuitive setup for designing levels. I think that that UI could definitely be used as the core for a more serious action game maker UI as long as it was backed up with a database for creating/editing the pieces you place and the physics of the world.

I just don't think it would be as simple as what Super Mario Maker had going on.
I'm pretty sure it will be a bit more complex...
