Important Update:

With the transfer to a new DRM platform the majority of activation issues have been resolved.

If you are having issues, it is most likely because you are attempting to activate an older build.

Please download the latest trial version of your product and attempt to activate it using the information you were provided with.

Having troubles activating RPG Maker VX Ace, VX, XP, or IG Maker?
Please try the following.

What is your operating system? Is it 64-bit? Please be noted that officially RPG Maker XP/VX do not support 64-bit OS. That being said, many of our users are operating RPG Maker XP and VX on 64 bit OS with no issues.

Please check if your Windows is fully updated and all programs (including optional) related to Microsoft .NET Framework have been installed to your computer via Windows Update in the Control Panel.

If you have any firewall program such as Windows Firewall or other security software's firewall (e.g. Norton, McAfee, etc.), could you please disable it temporarily and retry the activation?

A router may have its own firewall feature, and it may be blocking the connection to the activation server. If you could change the settings, please allow connection to the following IP: 74.124.219.187 .

Important: Read This!
It is also possible that this may be a problem with your ISP. If possible, try activating using a different internet connection.

If you aren't able to do this, then one of our users Mako has come up with a rather ingenious solution which may work for you.

Yes, I recently tried all those... I'm pretty gifted with technical things and I can't seem to get this working.

Please note that the trial and full versions employ the same activation system. We recommend not to place an order until the activation issue to be resolved.
Yeah to bad I per-ordered Ace. I wasn't aware there was a demo...

Edit: I realize this is not the Ace forum... but the issue is the same for each version if I understand correctly. =/

Edit: Support got back to me. Pretty much copy & pasted the directions here =/ I will post if I can get this working.

Yup, still trying stuff... Really want to get this going. :( Even ran down to my local gas station with my laptop and still did not let me pass the activation window.

Aye, Aye.

Same problem as Mako here. I had the same problem with VX too, forgot how I fixed it.

64-bit system might be the problem? I certainly hope not, I really want to play this D:

I sent an e-mail already, but figure I'd post down here as well. Not trying to rush you people, it's like 5AM, but I VX ACE is all on my brain. :S

Its not an issue with 64Bit, I activated it fine this morning (Around an hour and a half ago) on 64Bit WIn7.

Nope! Fixed it! and its soooo simple. LOL I'm makin' a tutorial now, so that we may end this issue once and for all.

I had the same issue where it would not activate.

All I did to fix mine, was open firewall and allow RPGmaker VX Ace.

When i then retried activating it, it took 5 seconds.

Well doing a search I found literally dozens of users that turned off their firewall.For me a tried everything before coming to this solution. But it may have been blocked by your firewall. For some it isn't that easy. =/

I suspect it would be a machine license. Once activated in my Compaq, it is already activated as trial. I formatted my hard drive and re-install Windows XP because of reboot failure. I tried activating as trial again but 30-days trial has passed. I had 27 days left and it was only valid in previous Windows XP partition (it is being erased). A new partition doesn't accept because Enterbrain has activation log that I already activated 30-days trial. Enterbrain does scan inside an user's computer system and copied to server.

I just order Dell computer and it is coming on the way. When I get it from Fedex delivery driver, I will hook it up and start up the computer. I will try activate 30-days trial on that computer. If that is really working, then I will tell you that RPG Maker VX Ace does machine license and support activation only once. If 30-days trial is done, cannot be activated again. Or just activation number of times limit per PC.

I will find out more after experiment my Dell computer.

I believe buying $89.95 license key only work in 1 single PC (only one partition). If new partition, then must buy another one.... it seem that way. I believe 30-days trial activation only work on 1 partition of hard drive but after new partition for Windows XP reinstallation, you must buy a license key. You cannot re-activate like VX and XP.

Trial and License Key activation key work slightly differently. You will be able to activate on multiple partitions/re-activate if you buy a license key. Ace Trial doesn't support multiple activations on the same computer. We are working on a fix for users who had issues.

Oh thanks, MayuDes. That's what I figured. Now I know I can buy one will work on my PC. I own 3 computers but I am not going to activate on 3rd one. My laptop and this desktop computer, good enough.

Wanted to try VX Ace and possibly purchase...BUT...it hangs trying to connect to the server.

Firewall? Off.

Virus protection? Off.

Connect through proxy? No luck.

Try another location? Hell, if my ISP works for any other authentication service then this product is apparently not worth my time.

Seriously, am I aggravated? Yes. So much, that after uninstalling I created my account to announce my displeasure.

I am fairly computer knowledgeable (computer forensics) and for a purchasable product this is disgraceful.

From my personal experience I have to close down the program and try one then reopen and try again. It's painful but I have a feeling it's because we're accessing a Japanese Server. It's sad to hear that you are very displeased. I hope that you're still willing to coordinate with us and give the program another chance.
