Activation Key is Good Only for One Computer?

I have installed RPGMaker MV on my laptop when it comes out on October 23rd that day, and I got no problem activating it. And now I want to install the MV on my pc computer it doesn't let me activate the MV. Do I have to purchase another key for another computer?

I had a similar issue - I installed non steam mv into my usb, and the following day I reset my computer to factory settings - now when i try launch the mv I installed to my usb, it asks for the serial key again.. Hoping there is a way to get a solution to this?

Also, didnt you get steam mv too? just use steam and you can download it to as many units as you want

Urgh....I am using the non steam version ~~

I have been using Windows XP until 2-3 days ago and then I decided it was time to use Windows 7 on it.

If I have to use steam download the unit again, that will really hurt my internet quota lol!

Internet quota is expensive here.....errr.....11-15 USD for 9 GB.......(and the download speed kinda sux ~~)

I'm not sure... Im pretty sure I read somewhere you could install it in up to two computers. And you can activate it in more than one PC. I activated the non-steam version on my laptop and desktop.

The key can be used on up to two computers at the same time (as long as they both belong to you) without problems, and you can transfer the licence several times - if the number of transfers is too high you just have to contact tech support, explain everything and ask them to reset the counter.


If it doesn't activate on your second computer, that is most probably NOT because the key has a problem, but because something on that computer blocks the access to the validation server - either a firewall or a antivirus or something like that.


Please check for that and try again.

When I install the program to a usb, and then insert that usb into a computer, it re-asks for the validation key, for each new computer it goes into - surely thats not right? Surely I dont have to limit myself to only using two computers when I have the program on a portable usb that can be put into any computer ??

Dekita, you don't install programs to a USB.  That was also the case with every other engine.  Installing puts stuff in the registry, probably including the activation details.   If you go and try to use it on a different computer, it's not going to have the registry details set up because you didn't install it there.  Your problem is not the same as the OP's.  You are not using the program the way it was intended to be used.

OP, you should be able to install onto 2 computers before it tells you you've reached the limit.  I agree with Andar - what is the exact message it's giving you?  Can you check that it's not being prevented from activating?  If you HAVE installed and activated it twice already, it will just be a matter of submitting a support ticket to see if they can reset it for you.  You will NOT have to buy it again, if it is for your own use.

Either way - I used my activation key for my non steam version and dont really want to use the other activation just to reenable it - I mean, I used it for maybe an hour all in before my computer was reset

Whoa....this thread escalated quickly. Not my intention. Really sorry that I am late for making my response here >.<!

Anyway.

The activation key is working now. Not sure what happened.

I went into my account in rpgmakerweb.com, clicked on that MV preorder confirmation, and the copy-pasted the steam key into the blank page under email address in the activation page.

That didn't work. It said: "Oooops....blah blah blah" - basically told me that the activation key is wrong.

And then I wonder if removing the dashes would work, but it also didn't work.

I checked the activation key over and over again (after copy paste before clicking on "activation" button), and nothing worked. I made sure the key entered into the blank page was indeed the steam key provided and after some times, I gave up, typed in the activation key codes directly (with dashes) instead of using that copy paste technique. And it works...............

Not sure what really happens there, but I am glad that it works in the end. I almost wanted to reinstall my windows 7 for this!~~

Perhaps you accidentally copied an extra space character along with the code - thus, making it invalid?
