I've made a game in RPG Maker XP and have some conditional branches that allow you to enter codes in the name entry screen, like Ao Oni. You can enter codes that change the main character's Actor Graphic. Only problem is, at one point in the game the main character is removed from the party. When he is put back in, his graphic is set to default again. How can I work around this?

Perhaps you could create a variable named something like "AppearanceChoice," and then set the various actor graphics they can choose from with the code to different variables. So if they choose, say, the blue outfit, it stores AppearanceChoice as 1. If the black outfit, it stores AppearanceChoice as 2.

Then when the character rejoins the party, have a conditional branch that checks what the variable was stored as earlier and change the actor's graphic again. So, "if AppearanceChoice == 1, ActorGraphic == blue, else if AppearanceChoice==2, ActorGraphic == black, else if..."

If thats too much I have an alternative idea. When the person enters the code, instead of changing the graphic an item could be included. This item would be the special outfit the character can take on and off.

This is just an alternative and might not be what you want.

What command are you using to change the graphic? And when you add him back next time, are you checking the box to initialize, or leaving it blank?

Im using Change Actor Graphic. And i do check initialize. I dont really know a thing about scripting or variables so im kind of at a loss there.

Uncheck 'initialize' - that puts the actor the level/stats and perhaps appearance you gave him in the database. ^^

Yeah, uncheck Initialize, unless there's a reason you want them to go right back to their starting stats and equipment. Let us know if that fixes the problem.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
