Since the DS material is packaged to go along with VX/ACE, but the majority of the materials for that forum's resources are meant to be RTP style could a separate sub forum for DS materials be made?

I was also wondering this for the old school pack, etc that have a different style than the RTP.  Maybe a sub forum specifically for non RTP generated packs/material.

The same could be true for the High Fantasy set as well, and even the Old School resource pack. I think it'd be great if people started making non-commercial resources similar to these styles, and not just the RTP all the time, but I don't know if sub forums for each different style would be the way to go. Perhaps people can start tagging their resources to indicate the style?

Like:

RTP, DS, HF, Retro, etc.

Why would you want a subforum? Since it's not RTP, I think it's actually against the terms of use for people to post edits to these resources, as using the edits would require the user to have purchased the whole pack. Posting edits in a public forum would make them available to people who haven't purchased the pack as well.

That makes me think of an interesting idea. We have ways of telling if someone's bought a pack, right? It would be kind of neat if there was a subforum that only showed up once you bought a pack.

I did not consider that, but Sharm's idea would eliminate that trouble.  I purchased my materials on steam before I got membership here, but I can prove through my steam account which packs are active.

This was just brainstorming at this point.

It would be difficult across just the one site (RPG Maker Web) - and even then there are two ways to purchase (forum store or site store). If you want to add Steam or Amazon purchases into the mix, that would be even more difficult, because there's no way to link a steam or amazon account to a forum account.

It would be nice, but I just think it would add a whole heap of complexity. Not to mention many additional forums that must appear on the front page, extending the list every time there's a new pack, and more forums to moderate. And the site doesn't seem to have been too stable lately either.

Yes, a nice idea, but I think it would introduce a world of pain to the people behind the scenes.

Yeah, I was worried about that. Well, if we could find a way to track it, I'd just make it a subforum of the Ace resources forum. That wouldn't expand the list at all.

Ah, it was worth asking at least.  Didn't realize it would entail so much work.  I'll have to figure something out then if I wanna open up a DS Request Thread/Shop in the future to release edits then.  I'll have to explore an alternative somehow to release work for free not part of an official pack.  Thank you Shaz.

Even if there WERE a subforum for it, you would not be able to release DS edits publicly, for the reasons I mentioned in my first post.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
