So I have RPG Maker MV on steam.

I'm trying to make my own sprites for the npc characters but how do I add them to the games database?
Ive tried using the image by itself with a $ sign at the beginning of the name (what I learned from past versions of the maker)
but that didn't work.

so then I tried to just replace one of the actors in the image itself

Both methods arent working ... any ideas?

Well it depends on how they are not working. The $ is still applicable for single character sheets in MV. But since you don't tell us what exactly is not right about it, it's hard to give suggestions.

I see you have an outline around it. What program did you use to create the character?

@SakiMikaze, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

You are not saving it in the correct place. You are saving it to the default program files, not the files for your project. You need to see where your game is being saved when you create a new project and put it in the characters folder for that specific project.

I actually was able to figure out many of my mistakes, the sprite maker first of all needed to be in a specific directory C:\SpriteCreatorRework\SpriteCreator3

That way it can export properly.

In terms of getting it into the game, theres a button to press on the rpg maker window, the resource manager third from the right of the screen right next to the person head icon. and if you press this you can import your own characters :D lesson learned!

@SakiMikaze that button is only a shortcut, the sprites will show up when copied to the correct folder manually.

The problem is that you copied them into the newdata folder, not into the project folder - and that has more consequences that you're still missing.

As long as the new sprites are in the newdata folder, they will automatically be copied into all new projects you create after they have been placed there. Your current project is older, that's why they aren't there - but if you make a new project, you'll find them in that new project.

And if you deleted something from newdata, it will be missing in future projects until you restore newdata by deinstalling and reinstalling the maker itself.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
