Adding new tiles to existing tilesets

Hello! I'm trying to add more recolors to existing basic A5 tiles. How do I expand the tileset? I put the recolored version right beneath the existing ones, but it won't appear in the database. Am I doing something wrong?

The overall size of any particular tile sheet is hard coded and cannot be changed. If you make a tile sheet longer, then the extra tiles at the bottom will not register.

If you want to put more tiles in, you will have to take something out. It is probably simpler in the long run to have several tile sets each one of which corresponds to only some maps, rather than trying to make one set do everywhere.

Just fyi, because you can have numerous tilesets in the database, you can customize a tileset for a map. So, you may have an A5 sheet with the pieces you need for a desert map and another A5 sheet that you would use on a snowy map, as an example. It is rare you would need so many pieces for one map. When I'm doing that, I would name my tilesheets very specifically. For example, Desert_A5.png and Snow_A5.png so they are very easy for me to locate when setting up tilesets in the database.

Does this rule apply for icons? Do icon sets have a hardcoded size and cannot be increased?

No, icons sheets can be extended length-wise, indefinitely (as far as I'm aware). So, keep the sheet the same width, and add on to the bottom.

May I ask, what program does the job, when it comes to adding tileset images together?
I tried MS paint, which basically works, but the background is no longer transparent, so if I place a tile, that doesnt fill out an entire square, it´ll leave a white background.

@SirLudicrous Any program which supports transparancy, which, as you've discovered, MS Paint does not.
The 2 most common are probably Photoshop and GIMP. The advantage of GIMP is that it is free, and does virtually everything that Photoshop does.
