Since my demise in this forum is imminent, let me tell you my story.
My real name is Julius Decena. 18 years old.
These past few years, I have been amazed on what RPG Maker can do. As far as I can remember, I have touched RPG Maker back with RM 2003, last 2010. It's capabilities made my skills on eventing become better. And then I discovered RMXP... then RMVX... there were times I have been tempted to DL illegal copies... but then it struck me. Geez, I am being unfair. I should be fair to those who paid for this program. Then I deleted the cracks, and enjoyed my one month trial for VX and XP. And the only player of my game is my brother. He enjoyed it... and he said, "wow, you can make final fantasy!"
It feels good. And time went by. Trials got expired, but RTP's still intact... I want to play RPG's made not for profit, but for passion. I've seen great projects such as Silentium and Valkyrie Stories... but they fell. I've played Nocturne Rebirth, but I can't read japanese. I am back with 2003. Still, I can't release a game because I really want to create a zelda like game. I am good on eventing, but not that good. I can't create such awesome battle system through it.
Then, I have not been active in the forums since.
Until somebody from my neighbor have a relative on Japan... who came here in the Philippines. He showed me RMVX... but now it's different. It is VXACE. He showed me what's new about it. And I got hooked on RM-ing again. He let me use his laptop just to experience RPG making. It's fun. We've been sharing ideas, though we hardly understand each other...
After several weeks, the idea about Cromwell was born. I have written in my notes on what I wanna happen to the game, and applied it through my friend's laptop. The big bro (the way I call him) is giving me some ideas and hopefully create the game of my dreams. He’s so kind, he even said that we share his laptop when it comes to RPG Making. I even assumed that it is my copy too... RPG Maker became a part of my life.
But good times come to an end.
So my filipino-japanese friend goes back to Japan last week.
It is really sad. Why? Because I can't do RM-ing anymore. Without his laptop, probably, I will be just browsing the forums... but seeing the possibilities with RPG maker... damn. I wish that I have a real job, and work until I have my OWN copy. It sucks to be a lawful good. But I guess it's what people like me have... pride.
Too good that I have our old PC, and installed a trial copy of VXACE. 22 days from now, I'm done.
It is too sad that I am seeing my project die slowly. I have already written things about it in my notebook. The bosses, database values, the multiple endings... Man. I hate this feeling. I have been so attached to my project, I haven't slept. It's 4:04 am here.
Luckily, my trial will endure until the end of the GMD... I won't fail you, mercenaries. We will get our job done. We will survive GMD.
I will still stalk the forums… and look after the games which caught my eye.
2 years from now, I'm gonna finish the college quest. I will look for a job to pay for the bills, .and buy RPG Maker VX Ace. And maybe some resource packs as well.
For the creators of the games Silver Town, Amber Throne, Battle Dungeons, Reincarnation, and other aspiring game creators who have their passion on creating games...
Continue doing it. I am not the only one who's looking forward to a full version.
This place is filled by good people. I hope that I will still have this place to return. This place is 10x better than facebook.
Hasta La vista, guys. The vintage tiger cub will be back as a mighty White Tiger.
For my final roar, cheers to all of you.
Regards,
Your friendly vintage tiger cub, _elvenheart
PS.: Here's a Soma Cruz Sprite for you!
