This is my first full-length rpg and my first project that I feel is of a respectable quality. Here are some specs before I get on to the storyline:

25-30 hours of Gameplay!
Over 400 weapons, armors, and items!
Over 190 unique character skills and weapon unleashes!
15 classes (also equippable as subclasses)!
Several optional dungeons and bosses!
On-screen encounters!
Save anywhere!

Storyline: Cyrus and his comrades stumble upon an ancient tablet with prophecies on it. To their amazement, these prophecies were currently being fulfilled on their island of Nord. Cyrus and his friends must now find the remaining tablets and find out what the Creator of everything has in store for them. Amidst all this, a war rages between the
Kingdom of Havilah and Asharia. The people of Nord are unaware that as they fight, a much greater threat approaches.

As in my last game(Genesis), Advent also has a strong Biblical flavor. I trust that people will enjoy its uniqueness.

Price for full version: $19.99

First off, this has to be said: LOL

Good luck convincing anyone to pay that price for an amateur's RPG Maker game with RTP graphics. At $19.99 for the full game, it better be damn fantastic. Very well, I'll try out the demo and see if it can actually convince me (I have my... doubts). I'm going to judge this like I would a commercial game for around that price... writing comments as I play.

-Game froze on an encounter.

-A sprite in sitting/lying pose would be nice in the scene where wakes up in bed.

-When the game shifts to Ivan why do I keep the items that I found on Cyrus?

-After the sea got frozen I don't see any sprites on the screen? It's just the map and the boats.

-3 easy battles later and I got captured. Can see sprites again, though.

-Why is Myria's sprint disabled outdoors?

-Can walk over the window in the house of the girl with the blue dress.

-Hm, sprint is only disabled on the Hiddelik village map.=s

-The sea floor looks like it's stone instead of sand.

-Sprint is also disabled in the forest...

-I can walk underneath the crate in the house where Cyrus joins the party.

-War Guardian 1-shot Myria from full health...

-Yeah, this fight seems highly unbalanced. I'll write more on it below.

OK, the game isn't actually that bad. In fact, it's better than your average RPG Maker game even. The mapping is quite OK, and rewards exploring places with plenty of chests. There's a fair amount of examinable objects, and NPCs say more than the usual 1-liners you see in most RPGs. The constant shift to different characters keeps things pretty interesting, and it's cool to see things from different perspectives.

The game completely fails on the combat aspect, though. Cyrus doesn't have a single skill learned, and even those with skills (all other characters come with only 1 skill available), there is no need to ever use them, apart from Myria with her Fire spell. Ivan can raise 1 ally's accuracy for 5 turns with his skill, this is so useless because there's not a single enemy that has evasion high enough to make this worth using, nor is there an enemy that uses a skill to lower a hero's accuracy.

Then there's the pirate captain with his skill Analyse that reveals monster data. It's just too bad that every monster dies in a few auto-attacks anyway.

Only the 2 girls with their heal and fire magic are useful with their skills, really. Even so, there's no need strategic use of either of their skills.

Regular encounters are facerollingly easy, with the only exception being the 2-Fairy encounter that could potentially hurt my characters enough to put them into danger.

Then there's the boss at the stone tablet. Talk about a spike in difficulty (and boredom). The single foe has an HP bar from here to China (seriously, what's up with that?) After some turns of attacking him with all of my 5 guys he had only just lost 1/4 of his HP. Then he uses that skill that attacks all of my characters, and 1-shots both girls from full health. The guys are a little tougher, but it doesn't help that the boss outspeeds my Healer character. I think the creator was thinking it was time for a boss monster at this point in the game, but then ran out of ideas for an actual interesting fight, so he just maxed out the monster's HP status and gave him an attack that can attack all characters for insane damage and called it a day. I'm sorry, but that's poor and inexcusable boss design. It's not just the monster that sucks, but so are my character's skills. With only auto-attack and 1 skill on each character, there's really no room for any strategy whatsoever.

But yeah... ignoring the fail on that boss encounter it's surprisingly good. There's a few minor issues, but nothing really gamebreaking or annoying. Worth paying for? Hell no. You can get better RPG Maker games just for free, and professional commercial RPG titles for less than that price (such as Final Fantasy 7 recently released on Steam).

It's not badly made at all or anything like that but I feel it's overpriced because at that price I can purchase several games off Steam, so I'll respectfully skip this one.

Also, if you felt like Genesis wasn't respectable quality and long enough, why did you make it commercial?

Genesis was $7.50 and it was short, A lot of people that played it liked it but, it was missing a lot of things because it was only 5-7 hours long. It wasn't what I call a "full-length game".

Advent is the longest and most complex game I've ever made. From now on, I'm going to stick to making my games at least 15 hours long.

Just because a game is lengthy doesn't mean it's good. I'd recommend putting a bigger focus on the quality of the game instead.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
