I'm trying to understand how to create such a system for my MV game, but have no idea where to get started or if there is a plugin or something for such a system and was hoping for some advice here.
For anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about the best examples to give would probably be Fire Emblem or FF Tactics, not with as many complicated things such as height, etc, but just a simple grid system where characters have to move into position to take actions.

I did see a system like this in the in progress games, but the project name escapes me right now.

Honestly? You have a really tall order ahead of you. You'll need to learn JavaScript very well, and rewrite the entire battle system to pull this off. And if you've never made a game before I'd suggest making one first to get used to all that is involved, then trying to make such a tactical system.

Depressing, but expected. Not for code illiterate idiots like myself. Thanks anyways.

Search tha plugins section for a similar system and then look through it an see how they did it ? Should at least give ya a heads up about what youre up against with programming tasks if ya wanta make your own.

I know that there are a few people working on a TBS (Tactical Battle System), & they have been created for previous versions of RPG Maker. However, I don't think anyone has made a deployment ready version yet for MV.

If you are lacking in the programming skill department, then you're better off putting it on "What I want to have in my next project list", & going forward with a more standard (for RPG Maker) battle system.

For example, I want to make series of open world sandbox games, all based in the same "game world", with a decentralized campaign structure, allowing for multiple storyline paths & myriad potential endings, based upon the player's choices in game. Needless to say that is a tall order.

So I am using my first project as a kind of "training wheels project", where I am doing a more conventionally linear project, with a set ending point, within a limited sandbox. Everything I am learning on my "training wheels project" is giving me a better idea of how to make the series of games I want to make. As well as giving me ideas on what to implement in that series of games that is my next project.

Because to use a TBS on your current project you are either going to have to hope & pray for someone to make a plugin in time, or put your project on the backburner until you develop enough coding skills to be able to write it yourself. & that is going to take a serious investment of time & effort on your part.

There's this, but it's probably too early along in its development to be usable for a proper game.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
