So I wanted to make the bat immune to physical moves and if you throw a pebble at it, it can be hit by physical moves, and after a while it can become immune to physical attacks again. I tried to do this with states and element rates, but they don't work. What can I do?

Using states and manipulating elemental rates seems a way to do it to me. What didn't work when you tried?

states and damage rates are usually the way to go, but you can't make the enemy completely immune if you want to go this way.

It's the mathematics - damage rates are multiplicative, and if you include one 0% then no matter what else you add, the multiplication with zero is always zero.

If you go this way, the default should be along 5% or so - neglegtable but not zero, so that 5% multiplied with 2000% is 100% again.

there are other ways to do thisas well, but we need more info todecide which way might work better for you.

I mean I want a way to make physical attacks do virtually nothing until someone throws a pebble at the bat

Maybe have the state give the bat maximum defense and then have the pebble item be able to remove the state.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
