"Happy endings are one of the luxuries of fairy tales, not everyone lives happily ever after."
Story:
You take on the role of Rian, who only a few years before inherited the kingdom from his parents. They did not pass on, but instead decided to retire and spend the last years of their lives together rather than ruling the kingdom. Rian took the throne along with his long beloved Catherine. For the first few years there was peace, but one of the neighboring kingdoms decided it wanted to expand its territory by swallowing up Rian's home. This is where our story truly begins. With Rian getting ready to head out onto the battlefield, his wife the queen begging him not to go. He knows he must prove himself, and boost the morale of his men by standing upon the field with them.
This next bit tells a lot more about the story, but it also happens to actually be played out in the beginning of the game. So only read if you don't mind knowing what happens.
After the battle as Rian is returning home, he meets a merchant upon the road who wishes to give him a gift. It is a magnificent suit of armor, magical even, that fits to the shape of the wearer. Rian reluctantly accepts the lavish gift and continues on his way home. Only to suddenly find his head growing fuzzy as he begins to lose consciousness. Before he passes out he hears the sound of laughter.
Characters:
Rian:
The hero of our story, he is in his early twenties and is a towering giant of a man standing at seven feet and two inches tall. He cuts a daunting figure at all times and the sword that he carries adds to that. In his hand it looks of normal length, no more than a long sword, but in the hands of any other man it would dwarf him. Now, why does Rian have two face graphics, you ask? Well, in the story early on Rian undergoes a change. Getting a suit of dark crimson armor from a mysterious merchant, this armor will change his life.
Tagnik:
This character joins Rian at the end of the intro, he's half-dragon and half-man. Contrary to stories the child borne of such a union is monstrous in appearance. His body a mixture of flesh and scales, half of his face human, the other a dragon's. Very little is known of his past because he's not exactly forthcoming, and who's going to make him talk?
Other characters will be added as they are introduced.
This is not my first attempt at making an RPG Maker game, but hopefully it will be the first I see through to completion. Therefore the systems will not be too advanced. As of right now the battle system is still front-view and turn-based, that is not likely to change as long as I am the only one working on it. The unique features that sets this game apart are the abilities that each character possesses that only show themselves in battle.
- Rian goes into a state called Protected when his life drops below a certain point, which has a slight chance of causing him to block whatever damage is sent his way perfectly, taking no damage.
- Another character does not have TP, but instead has a Rage meter. As he is hit and deals damage, his rage fills, but you do not want it to fill to full. Because if he reaches a full bar of rage, he will go into an uncontrollable rage. He will attack friend and foe alike until either he dies or the battle ends..
- More to be added as I continue working on the game.

Yep, more RTP graphics and a sample map, too. Well, with the exception of Rian, he's slightly modified RTP graphics.
Now this is still RTP graphics, but I did make the map myself.
A climactic battle is surely about to take place.

A huge thank you to Drassray for making some custom facesets for me! They're not in the post yet, but you can see them in the video.

Credit to some unknown person out there for creating a cowboy hat that you won't see in the intro video, but will see on a character later in the game.
Credit to Nayuki for the duster, that I edited off of a sprite and onto one of my own, that you'll see on the same character who wears the cowboy hat.
