All my game data is gone! Can't continue my project.

So here is the rundown of what happened to me.

Internet stopped working, tried to fix it for a good half hour.

Did computer refresh like an idiot....

Lost all my files including the data for the game i was working on.

Luckily I uploaded my most updated version to dropbox the night before.

Go to download game thinking everything is fine i'll still have my game and can continue it.

Realize when I uploaded I clicked create encrypted archive when I went to compress game data to upload. (Did it so my friend couldn't look at everything i had while he tested it for me)

No way to open my archived file in rpgmakervx ace so I can continue working on it.

If anyone out there can help me out It would be super super appreciated. I have so many hours put into it and i'm at a loss right now! I could just start an entire new project but I would like to avoid that, I honestly don't think I have it in me to start from scratch.

I do have the dropbox link if needed just send me a message and I shall send it to you.

PICTURE at the bottom is the file im trying to open. As you can see my game file is locked because of the encrypted archive option I used.

I've heard of files getting corrupted ... but entirely deleted? Your ENTIRE project? I doubt that. Go back to your project's folder, try and open it in Ace - what kind of error does it give you?

What do you mean exactly, Are you talking something to extract files, like how you do with winrar files, I just extract them to my desktop. I have all the games files, but the main file I need to run is protected and won't open in the rpgmakervx ace saying unexpected file format. If not then i'm not sure what kind of program you are talking about.

Yes I'm talking about extracting your data and graphics from the encrypted archive. There are tools that allow you to do this.


If you have all your data, you can create a new project and copy the data over and see if it works.

it's a game cracker and it'd solve your problem, but they are not allowed to be posted as allows people to steal resources and such from other peoples games

Please give a list or a screenshot of which files you still have, then we can tell you what to try to solve this.
If only the base project file is missing, you can try to copy that from an empty new project - if more is damaged or missing, we need to know what you still have and what the error messages are.

I posted a screenshot of the folder with all the game data in it. There are all the folders for audio graphics etc and then the one at the bottom would be what I open to edit the game. But since I encrypted it I have to way to access it.

No, that has nothing to do with encryption - that folder is missing the project file that is used to open it, and the encrypted file was never intended to be opened.
Only because your windows is set to hide file extensions and you see only multiple "game" instead of "game.exe", "game.ini" and "game.rvproj2" (this is the one you regularly open), you don't realise that you're missing the correct file to open the project - the file you try to open is the archive "game.rgss3a" and not a project file.
