Today I was trying to import new tilesets for my project through resource manager. I thought that would be a simple task but I was wrong. I wasn't having any kind of luck getting the new tilesets to appear and to make matters worse all of my tilesets have now disappeared. My maps are gone along with all the tiles. Is there any way to restore my project or is it a lost cause at this point? Really would not want to lose all my work.

UPDATE: I was able to go into a demo file of RPG maker MV and get one of the tile files from a DLC but I’m still missing the other tiles and it’s showing that only portions of my map have been restored. Can anyone help me?

I've moved this thread to MV Support. Thank you.

Any chance you deployed into your project folder? If you did, you would have a www folder there.

Were the tilesets you were trying to import formatted for MV? XP and Ace tilesets will not work, and if you got a parallax tileset, you can't just import that either.

Ah, my apologies! The DLC that I used was RPG Essentials Add-on. They were definitely formatted for the engine but they never showed up when I tried to import the files. I didn’t think it would be that difficult to do and then this happens. I’ve only been able to recover one tileset so far but only because I downloaded an animations set and took it from the demo file. This only restored half of my map but the other tile sets are all missing. If I just had those other tileset files I could restore my map.

This is what the map currently looks like with the one tileset recovered. I was thinking that if I started a new project I could just copy the tileset files and paste them into mine but I’m afraid that I’ll overite the current project doing so. Am I able to create a new project without deleting my current one? Or, is there a way that someone could copy there tileset files and let me paste them into my project to restore the rest of the map?

The json files go into the data folder, not the img folder. But there should only be one of those for your whole project, so if the DLC came with json files and you put them into your project's data folder, you have overwritten your existing tilesets with the new ones. I'd say the intention is to create a new project, add the DLC, and then copy just the tileset slots from that project into your real one, so you can add the new settings without losing any that you already had.

If that's what you've done, then your choices are to revert to a backup, or if you don't have one, you'll have to copy them in from another new project and make whatever manual changes you did since starting your project.

Sorry for the double posts. I guess it has been awhile since I last came to a thread! I haven’t actually done a backup I don’t think but I know my computer does auto backups I believe with Onedrive. If that’s not the way to do it then any insight is appreciated. So technically I can create a new project without overiting the existing one and just move the tilesets to the respective folders? I’m just baffled that this has happened to begin with because I just was trying to import DLC tileset files when this happened. But they never showed up and then after trying multiple times everything disappeared...

Then that might be the reason why your tilesets got destroyed.

you cannot make a backup of a file that is worked on, and while the editor is running it permanently has the project files open - same as databases like Microsoft Access or Filemaker.
If an automated backup tries to sync such an open file, Windows blocks all access to it - and a lot of those cloudsync drives interpret that block as "file with 0 bytes", deleting their online-stored version by reducing its filesize to zero. And then the next sync may give the zero data to the local files as well...

Please exempt all programs that use databasing file access from cloudsync's and make manual backups of them. There is no problem using clouddrives for distribution and copying, but you should never actually work on a cloudsync'ed project directory.

as for restoring the original tilesets: just make a new project in a different folder and copy those files that have a size of 0 bytes or are completely missing.

If you're still having problems after that, please come back here with an exact description of what you're missing. For example if you're missing entire maps, then there is a way to restore most of them, but ONLY if you do nothing with the mapfiles until we tell you the exact steps. Creating new maps before restoring missing maps WILL destroy those maps for example.

I swear it looked better in my head. But this ain't bad. Had to experiment to make the characters stand out and not blend too much with the background.

Also, before anyone say this. Yes, she is holding a winrar.
Posted my second Battle System, namely KEarthBound VX!
My first one was Kolloseum States for XP, he, he.
I never thought I'd ever make one for VX anyways. :rswt:
You can search the internet. It seems fine to call children little petri dishes. My wife and I raised 4 of them and they brought everything home. But apparently calling students plague bearers is a bridge too far. :LZSlol:
Which universe are you from? Berenstain or Berenstein?
Trying out Greedfall. The story is interesting and the voice acting is good, but holy cow are the faces and their animations distractingly terrible.
