RMMV Alternative to Yanfly's Multiple Currencies?

So my game has a shop where you exchange small token items like the Mini Medals from dragon quest for special items, and i don't know how to make it. I REALLY don't want to use Yanfly's plugin for this because of the shop menu core, which i don't want the menu layout of. Is there an alternative to this plugin that doesn't need the shop menu core?

exchange tokens for gold before regular shop processing, and back after that.

store gold in one variable, change official gold to the number of tokens, go shop processing.
then store current gold back into token variable and change gold into the old gold number from the variable.

no need for a plugin, this is pure eventing.

theUnproPro made a tutorial for it how to do it.

if you have only 1 currency like the tokens, change gold to token.
otherwise, use BO_CustomShop which can use items as currency as well.
which is inbuilt, so there is no need for more plugins.

it works good with other shop plugins as well.

But how do i make the CustomShop plugin use items as currency? I can't find any option for that.

let's say you have 4 types of coin: penny, guinea, crown and pound.

before shop processing, add up the sum of all coins values... that's total gold
execute shop, you'll end up with another figure for gold.
take that figure, divide by the smallest unit of coin, you'll get total *pennies*
divide that by the value of guineas (say, 12 pennies), you'll end up with a number of guineas and leftover pennies under the number of 12.
from there, divide total guineas by the value of guineas to crowns, and you get total crowns and leftover guineas.
same process for pounds.
remove all the physical items from the inventory, and add as many tokens as values per each token.
you'll end up with A * pounds + B * crowns + C * guineas + D * pennies

you don't operate in *tokens*, you always operate in *total value*.
this should help everyone understand the stupidity of every other monetary system out there and how they replace something subjective such as "value" for physical tokens lol

what I described is an extremely basic use of variables.
I know that some people (especially younger ones as variables are an advanced mathematic theme) have problems with the use of variables, but variables are absolutely vital to any form of game that has quests beyond "go there" as you have to use them for any form of counting.

So if you have problems with variable use, then I strongly suggest you take a few days to learn how to use them, it will massively improve your game making.
There is a game called "variables guide" available on this forum that teaches you how to use them by playing a game, search for it (it is also linked in my starting point tutorial if you follow my signature)

Are the default-size "chibi" sprites really a bad thing for a project? I'm not planning to sell my game anyway but I was wondering if they were as hated as some videos seem to claim...
