You need to copy the resources (or import them) into the correct folders.

If you want to use them for ALL of your games, you can copy them into the RTP folders instead (I don't know where you will find this, so hopefully someone else can enlighten), then they'll be available for ALL your projects when you use the RTP.

You mustn't be copying them correctly. Try using the Resource Manager to import them instead - that will put them into the correct folders for you.

Via the Resource Manager? Maybe you need to go through the steps you're following, because your "import" and our "import" could mean different things :)

And then did you go to the Tilesets tab in your database and create a new tileset using those new images?

Import/Copy puts them where they need to be. You still have to tell the engine that they're there for you to use (in the case of tilesets, this means creating a new tileset or changing an existing one to use the correct images in the correct slots).

And then, of course, you need to change your map properties so it uses the correct tileset.

Im having to work out what etc tile is atm, which goes where, as there is so many of them, and not all the tiles show up, if i can a sheet that is 8 squares by 12 squares, its only adding 2 by 8..... missing out on over half of the other tiles to go with it.

Make sure you're using the right terms. Tiles are what you draw your maps with - the environment. Characters are your PCs and NPCs and items that you see in the game. Characters are 12 columns by 8 rows, should be saved in the Characters folder, and used in events, not for mapping.

I don't have the resource pack you are looking at, can you link it. Its possible you've bought one in an old rpgmaker format.

Tilesheets need to be 512x512 at a maximum to fit right, with the first upper left tile left blank.

Oh hold on you might mean this:Click and drag your mouse over a group of tiles you want to add from the tileset panel (top left on map view).

Then do the same over the map view itself. - You'll see the white box is bigger.

A screen shot of the problem would give me some clarity on your question - you are either having trouble painting them (bottom answer) or they are scattered and all over the place (top answer).

If only a few of the picture's tiles are displayed in the editor, then you've probably added a tile picture intended for the B to Eslots into one of the A slots.

The A-slots are for autotiles only, and they need a different format than the other tiles, resulting in only some of the tiles of the tilepicture being displayed.

The not displayed A-Tiles are then used for internal reconfiguration of the autotile.

Usually some of the tile pictures for VX Ace in the resource packs should include a label like A1 or A3 in their filenames. If such a label is included, that picture can only be used in that slot of the tileset. If no such label is included, the picture is intended for use in one of the B to E slots and cannot be used in an A-slot.

(always assuming the picture filenames follow that convention)

You should have tried using them on the map, because you did everything correct until that part...

Those are autotiles, and they're in the correct slot - and they ALWAYS display only part of the entire autotile picture.

If you had tried to make a map with them, you would have seen that as soon as you place several of the same tile parts next to each other, the "vanished" parts of the tileset are automatically replacing the parts you placed to create a continuous area.

Please start with one of the mapping tutorials to learn how autotiles are used, your setup is correct so far.

Yeah, your screenshot shows exactly what you should expect to see. The A1-A4 tiles are Autotiles. This means the tile image itself is made up of several tiles, but in the palette you only see one tile. As you use it, it takes pieces from the several-tile-version and combines them, based on what's on the tiles around where you're drawing.

If you use one of those tiles and draw on the map, it should show up correctly - it won't look exactly the same as it does in the palette OR on the tile image itself. It changes itself as you draw.
