So I am trying to get the effect on the left side of the image, which I can do in Photoshop.
I would do a parallax on the map however.. I want this effect to move with the user not be

stationary with the map.

How would I get my png to achieve this in game as it does in photoshop?

Then you better don't use a parallax, but a show picture command.

Show picture is stationary based on screen coordinates and stays the same independent of map size or map position.

Parallax is something that moves along - either synchronised with map movement or independent of it.

Not sure if you read my post or if you just start typing whatever comes to mind after reading the thread title.

See I figure if I didn't post, "that I don't want to use parallax" you would just half ### answer.. use parallax then copy paste me a tutorial.

The issue/question is not deciding between parallax and show picture... you can see that I am already using... SHOW PICTURE...

The issue/question is how can I achieve the same effect in game that I can with photoshop?!

The caption even tells you this if you read it on the image the link has.

You seem to be trying to help, but answers are just blurted with no relevance to the actual question aren't helpful at all.

Not trying to be mean Andar.. just haven't figured out how communicate with you in a productive way yet,

we seem to really miss each other when interacting.

The thing is... you dont...

the only blend type you can do with mv are additive / screen and multiply which will not get you to that result...

No plugins that allow it, or could be developed to change the overlay effect?

Btw I appreciate you understanding what I am asking.

Try additive blend mode in a image with pink-to-teal gradient (vertically), and will go adjusting the opacity. I think that you can get some result much near what you want.

If prefer, link the original game image without effects, and I can help you trying.

Otherwise, couldn't you just use a picture with high alpha transparency and use it as an overlay?

You are looking at the results of exactly what you are suggesting,

and exactly why I am asking for help, cause it is not looking like the version in photoshop.

Not even remotely close.

I will try a different blend mode but here is the link to original until then http://i.imgur.com/VfGwGHb.jpg

Also is additive a gimp thing? cause photoshop doesn't have it.

Seems that additive blend mode don't apply matiz colors, only shine. You could use two images with the gradient: one with normal blend and other above with additive blend, both with same transparency. But stay much... artificial.

Other alternative (I think the best now) is use this plugin > http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/53505-ve-fog-and-overlay . And use the gradient image as fog with value 1 in blend mode.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
