Good day.
So this desire has persisted a while for me. I make use of ambient sounds (candles, dripping water, foot steps) within my game and much like Fallout and Borderlands, there is ambient music with occasional BGMs. I feel my game would atmospherically improve through this method.
Is this possible in RPG MAKER MV? I considered using common events and painstakingly set up exact ‘wait commands’ but I wonder if there is an easier method.
Conversely, if there is a way to make map music persist muted whilst battles occur and then resume unmuted this could work as well.

you can also use region numbers for this sounds, but it can be bit buggy though.
and like pasunna said, ocram plugin can work and is free for non-commercial only,
but its exspensive when commercial. (he try to update the plugins everytime,
but he is also active to fix teh bugs ppl are having.

I've moved this thread to RPG Maker MV Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

Game Mechanics Design is for engine-neutral game design (not implementation) discussion.

You can use ME's (Music Effects) which loop endlessly like music does, to set up ambient sounds like birds, if you want to. That's the "normal" way of doing it, as long as you're OK with playing a track on loop, and it won't interfere with the BGM. (You could even record the Sound Effects and turn them into a ME using Audacity or similar.) Note you can only have one ME running at a time, though.

The other option would be, as you mentioned, setting up common event loops with Sound Effects and Waits.

Thank you all for your comments on this.
@Wavelength I never considered using MEs! That's a brilliant suggestion. I think i could make a lot of use of that. Sorry about posting in the wrong section.
@ShadowDragon I've dabbled with using regions and general events to create varied creaks and puddle splashes. That's a great idea too. n..n Could add lots of layering.
@pasunna I'll look into the plugin regardless of price. Thank you~!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
