I have an idea.

An idea i dont know people will understand.

So i am making my first game (Not really, ive made millions, but this one i intend to finish >_> ) and i think it would be nice to prove the worth of RPG maker and make a good game, my FIRST GAME, using ONLY things provided, nothing downloaded, no script change.

But i think other people, EXPERIENCED people, should tell me something:

CAN I DO THIS!?

Answer Thinking i will never look at a tutorial (I Probably will)

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: It is much harder than i thought it would be.

There are many temping scripts and so...

The idea has sadly been...

Destroyed.

i am going to make a mario RPG instead.

EDIT: Nope, no textures.

It is definately possible, but it will be a lot harder, blander, and probably more generic than other rpg maker games released.

Please, I implore you on bended knee, look at tutorials.  There are so many really cool things you can do in the editor, and great things can be achieved using events, but you will not discover many of them unaided.  You will either spend a bit of time now looking at tutorials, or you will spend huge amounts of time struggling to do things, with loads of frustration.  And then end up having to post lots of queries and wait for answers when you could have learned how to do them quite quickly.

Follow my signature (press spoiler).

I suggest you playing the tutorial Events, read @Andar's tutorials and seek the tutorial I made for parallax mapping (it is without using scripts).

Good luck.

This would be the perfect occasion to use the word genuflect in a sentence. :D

This is fantastic advice by two experienced members of the community; you would do well to listen to it. I'll share my story/experience when I first picked up Ace. I read up on a few quick things to have a small understanding and I had some basic experience with some similarities to the playstation rpg maker 3 but was still going in relatively blind. Long story short after about 3-4 months I was able to make and complete my first game it used some simple plug and play scripts mostly for a more pleasing battle interface but other than that it was all default stuff. My game ended up being 4hrs long which is  a good length for a first rpg maker game.

So can you go into it and figure things out? sure of course you can, are you going to go into it and figure everything you can do in the software by yourself? more than likely not.

It is amazing  how much I learned after I finished that first game when I started to read through tutorials, some for fun and some to learn things I couldn't figure out; I realized how much I could have done differently or had done easier with that first game had I the knowledge I now had. There is plenty to learn and get your feet wet with so why go in blind if you don't have to? Plenty of stuff of beginner things like switches and variables as well as the basics of eventing available, then there are tutorials for mapping which will help you learn what the tiles are used for and how to make use of them. There are many other things as well available to learn, just got to go take the time to look it up.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
