Anyone interested developing a plugin-based open-source tool that imports/exports RPG Maker's data from/for different versions (XP/VX Ace/VX/MV)?

Pros
- Once we have the game data in our native format (maybe RDBMS or just in the RAM) we can build your plugin to achieve whatever you want
(like more merge friendly version control or macros to change values)

- byproduct it may be able to convert between versions (surely with some limitations like scripts wont work. but developing such a plugin can support for better conversions)

Or anyone knows if one already exists?

RMMV
An Ace to MV conversion script was already part of the launch plugins included with MV at first publication (probably in the international version only as it was written by Shaz from this forum and included by Degica), and I've heard about other such scripts for VX and XP, but can't tell if they're already working or still in development.

Going back from MV to older versions is a lot more difficult due to several differences in file structure and database structure, I haven't heard of such plugins yet.

Thank you Andar for sharing!

Very interesting that the international version had VXAce to MV conversion at the launch.

Going back from MV to older versions is a lot more difficult due to several differences in file structure and database structure, I haven't heard of such plugins yet.

Just to avoid confusions, the proposed tool is not a conversion tool. It is just a like plugin framework like Eclipse which people can build whatever they need.

For the plugins to be able to access the project data easily, it needs to organize the project data (ex. store in RDBMS). So that we can write plugins

(or macro in this case) say..."increase all battlers Attack by 20%" or maybe just directly use SQL if we decide to use RDBMS.

By supporting import/export to/from this organized project data, it will automatically support conversion.

A diagram is attached to illustrate this example.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
