About the frame rate it can be caused by incompatibility things, (using lots of scripts) but still I never encountered such a FPS drop, that's weird, considering my desktop isn't that old ~ I was surprised, that RM game can do such a thing. Well.. on the other hand, it's a really good 'Simple Performance Dropper Script'. Just kidding! =]

But I'm wondering about the crash in fresh project - I didn't touch anything - it says plug & play - so I pasted that and launched game - it crashed at the very start before title.

Yes, I know that, but that's funny, due to breaking logic. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Also tried on my current project - it worked, but the frame rate dropped to 0 - 1.
i tried this in all 3 of the projects i'm messing around with and all 3 where the same.

Oh, the reason that happens is purely because your font data is setup differently..  remove the ' + Font.default_name' from the font name settings and the error will stop. :)

Also, I just tested this script myself in a black project and there no fps drop at all, so yea... idk whats up with your guy's projects :/

Dekita, can you answer me this? The script works perfect for me, but it doesn't seem to have a opacity modifier and I think the map name shows up reeeeally slow.

Is there a way to edit that?

not a friendly way, but at line 950ish you could alter the 1 values within this method:

  def update_show    self.opacity += 1 if @open    self.opacity -= 1 if !@open    @open = false if self.opacity >= 255  end
