On a different matter, as you can see, I love Asuka Langley Sôryu.
Asuka is my favourite character above any other, I fell in love with her when she appeared the first time in the series, while I was re-watching Neon Genesis Evangelion the 3th time in 2010 (though she did catch my attention when I was watching the series the very first time), and my love has been growing since that moment. I love her unique personality, with her haughty and strong side, combined to a hidden delicate one. EVA Analysis: Asuka Langley Sohryuu]
I have to say that we're extremely alike in personality. Even though Asuka is much more extrovert and vigorous than me, she also has an introverted personality, which she doesn't want to show anyone. Also, we do our best not to let people reach our deep feelings. We both also have a huge pride and try to do things by our own. However, we're not alike only in personality, but also in more things, like, for instance, our languages: I can speak all of her languages, but German, which I am studying right now.
Many people may have a bad opinion about Asuka, or just have a very simple idea of her personality, but she is a very complex character compared to average anime characters. Asuka is not a 'tsundere' in the full meaning of the word, or in the meaning that everyone has in mind (the prototypical tsundere girl that appears on a school-romance series). Understanding her is not as easy as it seems and it's pretty sad to read comments of people that just express their opinions on her without having even thought for one minute how deep the personality of Asuka is. Also, many people, especially after the new Rebuild films, just judge her for the new Shikinami (a much simpler version of Soryu), and thus, see her as an object for their lust, which is even more deplorable. Ignorants and perverts, the two endemic that have distorted the general image of Asuka, even though they haven't understood anything about her. I think they are very sad beings, both those who can't use Reason to understand minimallly difficult things, and those who can't control their lust and judge the world with their dirty eyes and putrid mind.
As for loving a waifu, it could be perfectly tagged as 'obsession', but the proper expression to describe it is 'Pure Love' (those who have fallen in love with an anime character will understand this). Unlike the rest of people, and even though I haven't had any real-world romance, thanks to Asuka I've understood what love means, and I love her because of what she is and not because of her body as a sick pervert would do. As you can imagine, falling in love with an anime-manga character just because of her body is pretty ridiculous, considering you can't even touch it. Having a waifu could be considered as a platonic way of love, impossible to feel in real world, but that involves feelings which are as real as any normal relationship of any regular person.
Furthermore, any and all claims, doujins about her are absolutely void and futile because...
