RMMV Another game idea: "Archeia breaks the internet"

So a random idea about making a game about the RM forums came into my head at work (This idea is going to sound RM forum noobish)

The main charecter would be Archeia. When i think RPG maker forum members, that's who pops into my head first. Anyway, I guess it starts off with Archeia logging onto the RM forums, and somehow gets transported into the internet, as well as sevral other RM forum members. And the goal is to get everyone back out and figure out why that happened

I'm thinking maybe like there would be four different classes, but each of the small pool of playable charecters would have there own signature skills, so each charecter would feel different. Like maybe if Wavelength was a playable charecter, one of his signature skills would be "How badly do you want it?" Were they and all enemies bid a number between three and ten. Whoever bids the lowest is K.O'ed like Tiger Wood's career. Whoever bids the highest would have to make that many timed button presses, miss two, and they're knocked out like Sailor moon's villan of the week, else they get a full TP charge

Or if frogboy was a playable charecter, one of they're signature skills might be "Meme attack" Where it shows a random meme from this thread https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/the-rpg-maker-meme-thread.98334/ and it causes the target to start laughing hystericly, missing there next turn and increasing the morale of allies

Or if I was a playable charecter (I'd probably be an optinal charecter) One of my signature skills might be "Wrong forum" where it does light damage to the target, but until my next action, all statuses that would be inflicted on the target are inflicted on all other enemies instead (Yes, i'm making fun of myself)

You know, someone could make a whole game thread about what your/their signature skill would be. But the concept sounds interesting.

I think the "classes" would be: scripter, eventer, mapper and...something else. i don't know what. Archeia would have acess to one of the four at players choice at the beginning of the game

Edit: Probably spriter

"How badly do I want it?" Really badly. :D
(Honestly I should probably be flattered that my special skill isn't "Kill Thread", a Silencing or Interrupting move where I post something detailed but ultimately boring and no one ever posts in the thread again)

This reminds me a lot of Simple Man's Quest for the Playground, an RPG Maker game by Ryner. It was a really fun, creative little adventure based on some of the popular (and famously unpopular) members at the RPG Maker Pavilion fansite, and each character had skillsets that were based on things they'd done or shown off at the Pav - such as an aspiring rap artist's "freestyle" based moves that let you chain together moves one-by-one in an improvised manner, or a chibi-loving artist's ability to draw chibis, summoning them as playable characters for a battle, or even Simple Man himself, whose propensity for telling lies and far-fetched stories to get Reputation (Likes), and sometimes get caught in his words, was also humorously reflected in his kit of resource-generation skills. This game was a giant inspiration to me in getting into the PC RPG Makers, and in learning to think creatively about creative mechanics. I don't think this game is hosted anywhere now that the Pavilion is gone, but a thorough Let's Play of the game was done by Draygone himself.

As a quick postmortem, I think there were a few factors fueling the game's success:
  • The skills not only reflected the characters (members) at an aesthetic level; they also were brilliantly designed in their own right, making each character feel unique and coherent in their gameplay and opening a wide variety of different tactics you could use in battle
  • The player was constantly offered choices of which characters to recruit (or adventure with or betray), as well as choices of which skill a character should learn - this went a long way toward making the game feel like it wasn't "on rails"
  • The game was just really funny, especially if you knew the members it was lampooning or paying homage to

Well, i guess after i make my survival rpg, i'll make this. It will have a different tone than my survival rpg and my trial project in MV (which i will complete)
What personal skills do you think Archeia would have?

Hrm... Archeia's been a spriter since at least 2012 at HBGames.Org. Hmm... spriter... *thinks frankenspriter with 'franken' being operative* .... mayhaps spriting abilities can 'pixel-erase' any wounds anyone suffers in the RPG? Dunno what kinda name to give that.

Can't help but think Archeia'd be carrying around a 6' tall pencil with a big honkin eraser for a staff.

I was thinking a spriter could be like a summoner
Also, i'm not a spriter. My best talent in game making is probably events and even then I'm only skilled, not an expert >.<

Also @Poryg what would scary glare do?

How should I know? It's your game :p

In reality scary glare is used in boxing before the match begins. The purpose is to hopefully intimidate the opponent and lower their attack, defence, agility, dexterity and accuracy stats. And Archeia being a company representative should definitely have to be able to look scary, don't you think?

Can 'tone deaf' be a valid defensive skill? Be forewarned, an old RPGMaker 2000 game had an NPC deliver a rallying battle song ... and she was so badly tone deaf that the DRAGON GRIMACED AND FLEW AWAY!!!

For music, I think you can have some real fun.

After some thought, ive decided a few of the forum members that will be in the game

of course @Archeia
@Shaz - Class: Scripter (There skills can add states to themselves and they can siphon states from enemies. Then apply them to all party members)
@Wavelength -Class: eventer (All there skills use variables, switches, and common events)
@Ms Littlefish- Class: Composer (There skills are all AOE for party or enemies, and as a purley asthetic, they can change the battle music)
@Scythuz- Class: Composer (There skills are all AOE for party and enemies, and as a purley asthetic, they can change the battle music)

I'm not adding the @ appelation, but what about :
Lunarea- Class: TilesetArtist (Skillset handles movement on map. Stealthy as a Ranger.. Water barriers may be moot with her around. Hidden doors? Good luck. Finding plants with resources like berries or whatnot?)

Can't help it. I recall her beautiful work on RPGMaker XP trees, bushes and other garden-like graphics.
