So created a giantess character and made the sprite 8x bigger using GIMP. Now only one problem: it seems when I get too far away the sprite simply vanishes into thin air and then reappears when I get close enough. Can this be fixed?

I can't have this happening.

I made a video and if needed I can upload it to youtube. For some reason, the file uploader wont let me upload it here. It's an FLV. Less than 3MB.

Do you have an anti-lag script installed? Many of them delete sprites when the location of the event that contains the sprite is more than 3 tiles offscreen, which means your giant would be deleted while you could still 'see' the top 5 tiles of it (and so, appearing to vanish into thin air).

Are you saying that RPG maker does not do this by default?

Dunno, sorry. I just know that anti-lag scripts do cause this, as part of how they make the game avoid lag is to delete sprites that are far enough off screen to not be relevant. Hence why I asked.

Well I had 4 anti-lag scripts installed. I removed them all and the issue no longer persists so I consider this thread to be solved. :)

Thanks. :D

Why would you have 4 scripts to do the same thing? No wonder your game is lagging!

I believe Ace DOES have some anti-lag capabilities built into it by default.

I suggest you look at the rest of your scripts and remove any that have duplicate functions. At best, they're going to slow your game down. At worst, they will have incompatibilities - either causing errors that will crash your game, or affecting what's happening in the other script, producing unexpected results.

Correction: My game was never lagging to begin with. I only put them in there as a preventative.

My point is, there is no need to have FOUR scripts to do anti-lag, and you will find they will cause problems (as you HAVE found).

If you have other scripts that all serve the same purpose, you should consider why you have so many and get rid of some.

The only issue I have had with any lag scripts was the disappearing sprite issue which was in turn resolved by removing the scripts since I didn't need them anyway. The lag scripts didn't cause the screen tearing issue either, that's been going on since I started work on the game back in November, I just didn't say anything about it until now.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
