Added Male Bat and Male Fish

***Updated Jan 02, 8:24 PM***

Added in Male Avian and Male Tiger

***Jan 02***

Original Post Created

These updates are based on my timezone.

These are just basic recolors of the base character templates and frankensteins of different other parts on top of those. I made these specifically for my project but they are free for the taking for either commercial or non-commercial projects. All I ask for is some credit. You can take the PNGs but there is also some PSDs included that have layers to make it easier to add clothings and hairs to them. So if you have something that can open a PSD files, such as photoshop, then I suggest you take those ones.

I have not finished. I just decided to put up what I already have. I've only done male templates, but there will be female templates as well which I will update on here once they are done.

My project is in a world where everyone is anthropomorphic animals. No humans or elves. So I made these and decided to share them.

Here are the PNG images

Male Fox

Male Lizard\Dragon

Male Rabbit

Male Wolf

Male Avian

Male Tiger

Male Bat

Male Fish

Here are the PSD formatted files for each of the above

I am open to ideas for other races but keep in mind this is not a request forum. I will take into consideration the ideas other people have for me but this is ultimately for my project and will only include those that I will actually put into my game.

Other Races I Will Be Making

Maybe more...

These sprites are subject to change. So if you use them, be sure to check from time to time to see if they updated. One such example is when I figure out how to get snouts on the side view for most of these.

RMMV
The code for spoilers is ["spoiler"] without the quotations, and ["/spoiler"] at the end of the material again without the quotations.  It isn't built into the code in the site's editor, it's something general I had to look up myself.

The dragon men might look a little better with wings, and for the template have you considered doing recolors? 'Hue' doesn't lend itself properly to recoloring sprites with elements like eyes without some edits afterwards.  So you can make the wolves a bit more varied than just plain grey and also add blotches for more variety.

While it is an interesting idea,  the male wolfs have a flat human face on the side view and a dot for the nose.  I recommend using mack's sprites VX/Ace conversion for kobolds for your franken spriting as they tend to work much better.  You also have the rabbits, foxes, and dragons with the same flat side faces which detract from their characteristics.  You may want to look at Kingdom Rise and fall for Ichi so's dragon characters who have a very pronounced nose and horns for your franken spriting.  Leaving them in their current state makes them feel like you just took a regular human head, recolored it and slapped a dot on.  So you have them in less of a "kemono" style and more of a "animal boy" sort of look that feels less anthropomorphic.

I will not be putting wings on the dragon sprite as I will most likely be using it for more of a lizard styled race. I was thinking a more pronounced snout would be better, but I did not know how to make it like that since I have VERY little spriting experience and could not find a reference to use. I also cannot find the kobold sprite you are referencing. Perhaps you could link me to it?

Thanks! While I was making the tiger one, I thought I was gonna screw up the black line pattern but it came out rather well.

I'm assuming there's no way to put these in the generator?

Sorry for the late reply. I've been busy. You could get them into the generator with some extra work on your part, but seeing as how the generator only supports four skin colors you could only get four races into it if you replaces all the default skin colors. The generator isn't good for custom races.

It would take a TON of work just to make the skin tones available in the generator. I'm sure (and I think I did see some somewhere) that there are some already made that people took their own time to do. I would just stick to the frankenspriting instead lol.

AWESOME SPRITES! :D These have my brain swirling with possibilities. Thanks for the awesome stuff :3

Thank you very much! Hearing people say my sprites are good keeps my spirits up. I'm thinking of trying some sort of frog sprite, but they way I do it I don't think it would come out good.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
